Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Happy October First Monday, Wheelizens!

Mac’s thread GIF looks like something I’d do if I were boxing.

Sven --

I’ll be curious re your opinion of Brave. LambiePieK downloaded it and said it’s extremely fast, but AFAIK, she hasn’t tinkered with it enough to do a serious evaluation of its various claims and features.

I see SoCal may get a bit of rain on Wednesday; good!

BBL.

Oh good…cows on the loose again in Atlanta; this is the third incident in recent memory:

It does look like rain is coming, Fatwa. Another day and we will be on STORM WATCH.

Hey, Sven!

At least they’re not hyping it as “KILLSTORM 2018!!1!”

That will be the storm after this one, Fatwa. I expect this week to hear/view many PSAs about driving in the rain cuz it’s been so long since last time that we all forgot.

Heh.

Sadly, my recollection is that far too many folks out there forget every year that the first rain tends to make the roads pretty slippery…especially if it’s a relatively light one.

Been reading the transcript of Ford’s testimony from last week -- I’m wracking my brain as to how to insert this line into a work conversation: “Indelible in the hippocampus…”

Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Hippo campus, you say?

Happy Monday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!

Self-destructive boxers, cow tipping, slippery when wet, and hippos indelibly etched -- yep, sounds like a Monday.

Long-ish article re Rachel Mitchell’s (Maricopa Cty. sex crimes prosecutor from last week’s Senate hearing) memo re Ford’s testimony:

https://heavy.com/news/2018/09/rachel-mitchell-memo-christine-blasey-ford/

Mitchell wrote that a “‘he said, she said’ case is incredibly difficult to prove. But this case is even weaker than that. Dr. Ford identified other witnesses to the event, and those witnesses either refuted her allegations or failed to corroborate them….I do not think that a reasonable prosecutor would bring this case based on the evidence before the Committee. Nor do I believe that this evidence is sufficient to satisfy the preponderance-of-the-evidence standard.”

Much more at teh link.

How anyone can read that report and not come to the conclusion that Dr. Edsel is not credible and that this entire episode is political theater is beyond me.

They want to believe.

I had thought that Ford was a lock for Time’s thing of the year, but now I’m betting on Anonymous.

Bovine update: 88 of the 89 cows which got loose on I-285 / I-75 this morning have been captured.

That junction’s a mess under normal circumstances; must have been an udder cow-lusterf*ck this morning.

Thanks for the news round-up. I hope you and the Lovely Ms. BrendaK can steer clear of that area.

[I think we’ve milked this pun for all it’s worth. Any more and we might have to hide.]

Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

I see what you did there…and approve, sir. Fortunately, that’s a good distance from us.

I reckon the truck was a steak-bed.

Hope nobody’s car got T-boned in all the chaos.

(I probably deserve a kick in the dairyerre for the preceding; it was a bit cheesy.)

“My mind is getting a little tired.” Another favorite bit of Ford testimony.

You read through this shit, and if you hadn’t seen her, you’d think that Ford was some child. How she doesn’t get lost at least once a day is some kind of miracle.

“So, I was panicking because I knew the timeline was short for the decision and people were giving me advice on the beach. People who don’t know about the processes, but they were giving me advice.”

Because whenever I have a major decision to make, I always turn to the beach people as well.

Amazing. No one asks who these beach people were or what she told them.

Cows and traffic: a dangerous combination:

Yep, especially when both the cow and bull are distracted (did you catch what they were doing?).
