Huh. A bird. Must think on this…

Happy Dancing Parrot Friday, Wheelizens!

Hiya, Sven!

But his feelings were hurt!!

Oh noes…not the pwecioussss feewingssses!

That whole story reeks of BS; if that’s the case, I hope appropriate charges are filed and pursued vigorously. My first approximation of what actually occurred: a kinky hook-up gone bad somehow. Second approximation: attention whoredom.

A good Friday morning, Gerbil Nation.
Good morning, Sven, and Fatwa.

Prayers for our friend JtB and his family on the passing of his mother, yesterday.

I’d also like to ask for prayers and good thoughts for my family and myself. It’s time to put down our cat, Gandalf. This morning his breathing is labored and he’s unable to stand for long.

Hi, Paddy!

Brenda told me last night about JtB’s mother (I think she read about it at FB).

Very sad to read about Gandalf; I feel certain he’s had a good life and I’m sorry it’s time to say goodbye to him.

You’re all in our thoughts.

Thanks, Fatwa. My biggest concern has been knowing the right time.

Now if I only didn’t have a bunch of meaningless (in the long run) carp to attend to today -- including parents with whom I’d rather have no further relationship.

It’s hard to know “when” sometimes; we can only do our best.

We were pretty sure with Jackson, but the vet second-guessed us which led to a bad couple of days for all of us. We will not use her again.

The vet and her assistant that came to our house were all that we could ask for. Within 15 seconds of starting the barbiturate cocktail, Gandalf’s breathing stopped. No pain, no discomfort at all. Now come all the times when I’ll think I hear him, or see him out of the corner of my eye, or head into the routine of caring for a pet, only to remember that they aren’t there.

Compassionate, competent vets are a goodness.

Despite how long it’s been, I occasionally feel like Jackson’s giving me the bulgy “treat me” eye. (On the infrequent occasions I nuke popcorn, I still expect him to be there staring at me as I’m trying to determine the nexus between mostly-popped and singed…)

Thank you, Mac. I know you’ve been through this, and know that it doesn’t get any easier with repetition. All we can do is hope to provide our pets with the best life possible.

Thank you, Mac, although I don’t feel like one, at the moment.

Very sorry, Paddy. I’m glad that he was able to be with his family at the end and that his passing was as peaceful and comfortable as you could make it.

Wonderful that the vet came to you.

Prayers for JtB and his family. I still have a recording of a Civil War lecture that he gave and a copy of his book Brave Men in Desperate Times in the bookcase. I don’t do FB, but maybe I ought to start so I could keep up with what’s going on.

I’m finding the whole Dem governor-KKK/blackface outrage quite amusing. That pictures published 35 years ago that are now deemed not just offensive, but THE WORSE THING EVER, become the measure of a man’s entire life is too rich. But the Dems made the rules, so sorry you got to go and don’t piss on your feet on your way out the door. Too bad. Learn to code.

Just finished a meeting with a family and various other educational professionals (psychologist, speech pathologist, teachers, administrators). Two of the administrators were in the Central Time Zone. I’m bushed, beat, and worn down. It’s passed time for dinner and I’m not fit to be around any but my loved ones. I’m sure Jack Tatum would understand.

The meeting ended at 7:30 PST -- a couple of times during the meeting I expressed thanks for those who were two hours later. I don’t thing the parents took notice of that fact, but I hope those affected did.
