Teh Squeaky Wheel
It’s Dish-Washing Kitteh Friday…teh yay!!1!
We were supposed to start repairing Mrs. Shyster’s terrible, awful, no good roof leak today, but we discovered yesterday her HOA neglected to have her unit inspected for mold prior to us touching the roof -- which was a condition written into our proposal due to the groundless, implicit legal threat made to JimCo back in February when we wouldn’t accede to her (unreasonable) demands.
Good job Mrs. S…you played yourself.
And we have a 2-week project starting Monday which will require all hands. It was difficult to keep the schadenfreude out of my voice when I delivered that news yesterday. 👿
But I did, ’cause I’m a professional.
(That said, the teensy horned, red-clad Fatwa sitting on my left shoulder really hopes it rains again the weekend of the 27th-28th.)
Off to be evil; BBL.
It’s sad that schadenfreude has no single English word equivalent.
Those wacky Deutsche compound words; some of them -- especially nouns -- can be rather daunting in print.
That said, “malicious joy” is a pretty accurate English equivalent for schadenfreude.
In my second year HS German class, we used a German kid’s primer filled with some odd short stories. One told the tale of a Gummimatratzenfabrik (rubber mattress factory) which caught fire. Some poor schmuck was trapped on the top floor, so his co-workers piled up a bunch of mattresses on the ground.
Said employee leapt to safety, landed on the pile of mattresses and bounced for three days…until they shot him down.
Off to work -- happy Friday, boys. Thoughts and prayers at ya, Mac.
Happy Helpful Kitteh Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
I hope Mac is doing well in his recovery.
Fatwa -- sometimes life can be wonderful, can’t it?
Teh Older made it home from his conference. Good to have him home again.
