Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Happy Friday, GN!

Just mowed the (damp) front lawn again as it ain’t forecast to be cooler, drier or any less humid in the next ten days.

Bah!

“Certainly … he was making mischief and making a stand, and maybe it was his last stand,” Giusti said.

Maybe I’m an old fuddy-duddy, but I think trying to set fire to / ‘splode a freakin’ propane tank qualifies as something other than “mischief”. Plus the fact he had one o’ them firearms the liberals usually hate.

BBL.

Oh…Texas Food Pyramid:

Since our speech is violence, and their violence is just speech, will they at least admit that blowing up a freakin’ detention center and possibly killing 1500 people qualifies as hate speech?

I’m going to guess no.

Happy Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa!

Mrs. Paddy has a new boss -- her pastor retired this year. Her previous days off were Saturday and Monday. The new pastor holds staff meetings on Mondays, so her days off are now Friday and Saturday. So Thursday is Mrs. Paddy’s new Friday and we’re both still trying to get used to the new schedule.

Hope that works out for you guys -- and as Fatwa said, that her new boss is a good one.

Hey, Paddy!

Hope it’s nice for Mrs. O’ to have her days off back-to-back now. And that her new boss isn’t a jerk.

Re possibly blowing-up a detention center: ya usually can’t make a fringe political omelet without breaking a few eggs killing innocent folks.

But they become martyrs for the cause, so it’s okay…or they were enemies of the people, so it’s okay.

It’s gonna be a looooooooong, ugly -- and probably violent -- campaign season. Feh.

Mrs. Paddy has a very favorable opinion of her new boss at this point (he started July 1). He looks to be a good fit for the congregation and the community.

Just think, we have over 15 more months of this campaign nonsense.

Back from the doctor’s again -- had to have blood drawn. Routine stuff. Sadly though, since I stopped smoking I’ve gained like 12 pounds. Time to do some serious dieting. Best diet for an old fat white man that works in an office?

Given that I need to drop about 15 pounds, I may not be the best one to give advice. I’ve found in the past that reducing carbs helps me a lot, along with staying hydrated. A couple of years ago I started intermittent fasting, and it helped me drop weight rather easily. Stop eating at 8 p.m., then don’t start eating until 12 noon. One problem is that your body gets used to this “new normal” and you plateau.

I know Ace is always going on about fasting -- maybe I should give that a try. Is that a daily thing for you, Paddy?

Yep. Daily for about two years now. After the first two weeks it wasn’t hard getting through the morning. Every once in a while I’ll have breakfast, for example if we’re going out and won’t have time for lunch. There’s no way I’d do some of the fasting that Ace does, though.

Huh. Looks like Iran is starting up its own merchant navy.

I hope Bilge doesn’t get conscripted.

But they are apparently British-flagged ships, so at least we don’t need to jump in on this one. Let the Brits figure it out.

I wonder if they are trying to provoke a military response from the U.S.? The U.S. needs to support her allies -- support not act in place of. It’s long past time for our allies to take more responsibility for their own defense. I know there is a school of thought that allowing Europe to depend on the U.S. for defense has resulted in fewer European armed conflicts, but there comes a point when a society must mature.
