Teachers at my school started back to work yesterday and we have our first all-hands meeting/training of the year today. That means I have to actually face the traffic this morning. Yay me!
In re thoughtful political discourse: my brother posted an image with a quote from Sen. Chris Murphy that claimed that the vast majority of mass murderers don’t have a diagnosis of mental illness and that it was just a trope of the gun lobby. A friend of his pointed out that not having a diagnosis of mental illness and not having a mental illness are two very different things. I commented that fourteen studies showed that four times the number Sen . Murphy claimed actually did have a severe mental illness (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, plus a few others) and that studies by both the FBI and Secret Service show that 70% of mass shooters have a mental illness. My brother deleted both of those comments.
Well, it took me 2-3 days of listening to assholes on the left to come around to the “fuck that” side of any new gun control schemes. Maybe Mrs Sven will let me sleep inside tonight cuz it is really hot.
