A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Welcome to Sunday punday!

It was supposed to be cooler, yesterday. It wasn’t. It’s supposed to be cooler today -- we’ll see. It’s supposed to be much cooler tomorrow. I’m not counting on it.

Yeah, more fake news here too, Paddy. Yesterday was brutal. No winds though.

I’m of a mind, given the current state of things, that if a “lion” thinks it’s a “zebra” then it is actually a zebra. Species assignment is a white supremacy construct that has no place in the woke 21st century.

Apparently there’s a new racist kerfuffle involving SNL and Asians. I can’t even pretend to be interested.

Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

G’day, Paddy, Sven and Teh Nation!

AFAIC, SNL has been utterly irrelevant since the late eighties. I know I have outrĂ© opinions…such as comedy is supposed to be, y’know, funny. SNL’s been full of fail in that regard for thirty years.

Glad to see that a few comics are pushing back hard -- finally -- against “woke” culture. (Which I wish would go back to sleep. Preferably, with the fishes.)

A rough evening for us last night -- an old neighbor showed up on our doorstep late afternoon Saturday in bad medical shape -- the man is 83 years old -- and had left the hospital against orders. We got him in and settled for a bit, got some water in him, and kind of heard the story. Tried to convince him to spend the night with us but he wasn’t having any of it. I drove him home in his car, Mrs Sven followed, and we got him settled in his place a few miles from here. Ran off and bought some medical supplies, food and other stuff, and got him into bed.

Some of his neighbors are looking out for him and we talked to them. We’ll be heading back up there in an hour or so.

He refuses to go back to the hospital and he’s all alone out here. We might be able to get him to the VA tomorrow, but I don’t know. If he doesn’t go, he isn’t going to last the week.

Do we force him to get medical attention or let him go out on his own terms as he seems to want? I don’t know. I pray I make the right call here.

That’s heart-breaking, Sven. I know you and Mrs. Sven will make the right call. You’re a Good Gerbil™

Thanks, Paddy. Stopped by his place for a bit -- his neighbors are keeping an eye on him and he was in much better shape today. Ate some of the food we left yesterday and I trucked up a recliner from our living room to his place so he can put his legs up.

I’m glad he’s doing better. No matter his decision, I hope he’s comfortable and understands that there are people who care about him.
