Thanks, Fatwa -- I’m in this now and have to figure out the VA labyrinth today -- I’ll do the best I can, but I’m not sure on the goal and definitely unclear on the logistics. We were making phone calls last night and I’ll start again at 8:00. And go from there.
I really don’t know what to do -- I’m hoping I can get an advocate somewhere that’s dealt with this guy in the past and that can take over.

That get’s me thinking -- Medicare for all should be a wonderful thing!
Just got in -- a very long day that ended up not even involving the VA, but rather other aspects of the medical industry. Our friend is now in the the local hospital and I’ve found an advocate/social worker from his insurance company that actually seems concerned and effective.
On the other hand, now social service types are involved -- this is not objectively a bad thing, but it does present issues. This guy should not be living on his own in a shack that would be probably unsafe for a fully functional 20-year old. He needs help, but accepting help may mean he has to move in to some type of “home.” This will not go over well.
I’m tired -- this has just been a sad day. I did what i could, I just don’t know if what I’ve done is right or enough.
Need to eat. Hopefully teh bestest place ever got my messages tha ti wouldnt be in.

I had to assist a neighbor in L.A. in dealing with the Sepulveda VA facility. The medical personnel were mostly quite good.
The administrative personnel made the CA DMV look like In-N-Out in terms of comparative customer service. Bastards.
