With new revelations every day, and old revelations being shattered by the truth, it’s hard to believe that the American public will give a flying falafel about any of this, come election time.
I dread reading the stats on “gun violence.” I know it’s an epidemic and all, especially from “assault rifles” and that something must be done right away, but I can just imagine what the “for the children” crowd will do once they see the increase in carnage.
In 2018, the estimated number of murders in the nation was 16,214. This was a 6.2 percent decrease from the 2017 estimate, a 14.5 percent increase from the 2014 figure, and a 5.3 percent increase from the number in 2009. (See Tables 1 and 1A.)
There were 5.0 murders per 100,000 people in 2018. The murder rate in 2018 was down from the rates in 2017 (6.8 percent) and 2009 (1.2 percent). However, the murder rate climbed 11.6 percent when compared with the 2014 rate. (See Tables 1 and 1A.)
Fake news. I bet “gun violence” is on the rise, though. Fewer people stabbing each other and using guns to vent their hatred.
And what BS -- civilians actually using firearms in justifiable homicide events in 2018: 298 times. Compared to LEOs in 2018 using firearms 407 times. While not equal, pretty darn close.

OK, but this stays here. Last month, I bought one of those vegetable Spiralizers to cut up vegetables in thin or strandy shapes.
Trying to cut back on carbs and everyone was going on about how you can’t hardly tell the difference between pasta noodles and these veggie noodles.
I’ve been buying zucchini and running them through the the thing. And then frying them up with onions and garlic and stuff.
The veggie people call them “zoodles” -- cute, right?
But here’s the kicker…
They aren’t all that bad. I don’t like vegetables much, but these zoodles, well, it ain’t pasta but OK, I admit it: I LIKE ZOODLES!

Huh. 800 fewer people killed by firearms in 2018 compared to 2017.
297 people by rifles in 2018 compared to 390 in 2017.
That can’t be right. 297 is LESS than 390.
