Teh Squeaky Wheel
Happy Mean Fighting Kitteh Friday, Wheelizens! 😉
Good new about the fires; hope you get power back soonest. Brenda said to tell you “we’re thinking power at them”. (And that we’re not being mean to you two.)
The Dallas Morning News had a little op-ed re CA’s electricity clusterfark:
Check out this Antifa badass; pretty intimidating, no?
“Mom! We’re out of Hot Pockets!”
Power came back on last night, so somewhat back to normal. Maria fire about 15 miles north of here near Santa Paula is up to 8000 acres now, but wind conditions are much better today. Despite all the damage, SoCal dodged a bullet this past week -- it could have been so much worse.
Happy bday to Mrs Sven -- she turns 30 today!
My favorite video of the morning:
A very Happy 30th Birfday i/7 to Mrs. Sven!
Heya Sven teh Cradle-Robber!
Glad you have power back; hopefully the diminished winds will allow firefighters to make significant progress.
Cheers for that video; olive seeing citizens treating politicians with well-earned contempt. We need a lot more of that.
Who wants birfday cake?
Happy Friday, Gerbil Nation! And Happy Birthday, I of Seven, Mrs. Bonk!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
Man, I really thought we be through with this background witch by today!
Sven -- glad to hear that SCE has graciously agreed to restore your power. As Fatwa said, let’s hope the diminished winds will let the fire fighters get a handle on these fires.
Hiya, Paddy --
Looks like Teh Blue Glove Guy has stopped by for a Wicked Witch Hillary clean-up; thanks, Jerry!!1!
“Cankle spill on aisle six!”
Wow, dat Bet@ O’Rourke, doe… I”m surprised more ppl don’t call him taht!!!11
Aaaaaaaaand…Robert Francis is out; so now we can refer to him as a “quitter”, too.
*Cue “Another One Bites The Dust”*
“Beta” has been commonly used in the dank little corner of Twitter where I occasionally hang out. (Largely a smart, thoughtful bunch of sarcaustic AnCap-ish types mixed with a surprising number of armed Joooos.)
‘Tain’t bad…but I feel like “the slow kid” in that crowd sometimes.
I can live with that.
Maaaaan…inexpensive 1T portable hard drives are a goodness. (I’m so old, I remember when zip drives were a thing. And when I thought a 2G hard drive in my desktop was luxury.)
Yeah, when I replaced my floppy drive with a backward compatible LS-120 I thought i was Stylin’!!!
it was cool. Bootable IDE and also read standard floppies. I couldn’t even remember now the size. They were 1.44mb but I had to look up that they were 3 1/2 inches I totally forgot. I think its’ because we used to call the big ones 5 1/4 inch after their size, but the little ones 1.44 after their capacity.
“Happy Mean Fighting Kitteh Friday, Wheelizens!”

Most of my consciousness is in the old days.
I understand sir..
