Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Happy Pensive Puppeh Wednesday, Wheelizens!

Did a quick search this morning re the “recent unpleasantness” in Jersey City. Most major media only mentioned the murdered cop’s funeral but there were no updates regarding anything else pertinent to the story. (Pretty sure that if the “ethnicities” were reversed, we’d already be on our third or fourth “national conversation”.)

Re ZOG “organlegging” (h/t SF author Larry Niven): cash is a lot more fungible; no need for stuff like tissue-matching, off-shoring kidneys, expenses for couriers, airfare, dry ice and coolers, etc.

I hope Jersey City School Board Member Joan Terrell has a painful, protracted and humiliating death. Soon.

Hope your internet provider finishes their upgrade quickly and that you wind-up with faster, more reliable service.

Sven --

The new stupid CA solar panel mandate will make roofing work -- especially roof replacement and leak repairs -- more expensive. In many cases, significantly moreso. Not to mention potentially interfering with some emergency repairs, if the leak isn’t easily accessible.

And CA AB5 is a nightmare for many folks, including musicians. Want to hire a drummer for a gig for $100? Not so fast, bucko. You’ll need a payroll service, a W9 for the drummer and much more, so the actual costs go way up, and the drummer’s net pay goes down. If not overturned, that law will put another couple of nails into the coffin of “live music” in California.

“What are you in for, dude?”

“Hiring a bass player for one gig for for cash.”

“You monster!!

BBL.

Like I said before, California reads like Atlas Shrugged Part 3

A typo while searching for a document yesterday brought up a letter which was part of that BS lawsuit against JimCo fifteen years ago. It was a nastygram written to the uncooperative company allegedly “investigating” the matter on behalf of our insurer early on. (Among other things, these morons lost Polaroid evidence photos.)

The letter -- which was sent out over Jim’s signature -- concluded thusly:

To characterize [Redacted]’s performance to-date as “piss poor” would be defamatory to both poverty and urine.

Sometimes I crack myself up.

My former House rep at an LA impeachment rally last night: “Everything is a blessing and a curse, right? But tonight I can be here and I am not a member of Congress and this is a solemn, solemn thing. But I can say tonight, it’s time to impeach the motherfucker!”

What a classy broad.

So internet woes are fixed.

This afternoon. I opened the box that contains my sub-woofer and my modem and router. I decided to properly power-cycle the system instead of just power-cycling the UPS. Not sure why that would make a difference, but I was just being thorough.

Anyway, Started fresh by turning on the modem. It didn’t connect at first, but after several tries, I left it for about a minute, and the proper lights turned blue. So I fired up my router and restarted my computer. And it was indeed up and running.

I didn’t really feel like streaming, but I thought I ought to test it to see if it was true that I’d have better upstream bandwidth. I was definitely into prime time, it being around 5pm, and I set it to the YouTube recommended 2500 bps. Normally I can only get 1000 bps if i’m lucky, sometimes even less than that. But once the stream started and stabilized, I was dropping no frames, so I bumped it up a few times and was able to stream at 4500 bps with no trouble at all. I wouldn’t normally bother with that, because I downscale everything to 720p, but definitely, 2500 is more than enough, but I can do much more, and this is during the busy times, so I streamed classic wow for a couple of hours, and I was amazed I never dropped a single frame except for a a few at the beginning when I was just letting the software stabilize.

So, I guess, I can finally stream at a decent resolution and bit-rate. There is even plenty of bandwidth to spare for streaming at 1080p if I want. Which I may try. Because then I won’t have to waste processor power for down-scaling.

So all-in-all, the cable company finally did something good. I’m happy.

Att here is pretty bad in our area. We had it for awhile in the early days of living here. I’m amazed that the cable company actually made the service better.

From July 2017: Poll: Americans split 42%-42% on impeaching Trump

October 2017: PPP’s newest national poll finds a record level of support for impeaching Donald Trump. 49% of voters support impeaching him, to 41% who are opposed to doing so. This marks the 6th month in a row we’ve found a plurality of voters in favor of impeaching Trump, and it’s the closest we’ve found to a majority.

The left has always felt the need to remove Trump by any means necessary. They don’t care about the reasons or the facts, just that impeachment makes them feel good.

I am beyond disgusted tonight. On the flip side, I’m also pretty angry.

Good night, friends.
