Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Good Caturday, GN!

“Heh” for Mac’s thread pic.

Surprised there aren’t any BDS folks or protesters carrying pics of Rachel Corrie in the bottom panel. 😉

Looks like there was a lot of butthurt on the left yesterday over the greasing of Qassem Soleimani because “Orange Man Bad”.

(Pretty sure that if Trump somehow ended racism, hunger and poverty worldwide, our lefties would reject it like starving African nations refusing shiploads of “golden rice” in the midst of a famine.)

It seemed like Pres. Trump’s response was appropriate and most unlike the Obama-Hillary “you’re on your own” response to Benghazi.

Hiya, dv8!

It’s refreshing to have a POTUS who unequivocally stands-up for American interests; it’s been over thirty years.

I’m no fanboy but I think Trump was right to take the shot, given the totality of circumstances.

Pres. Trump ate meatloaf and ice cream….

…so what?

Too bad he didn’t have a flambéed dessert and -- maybe -- a cigar. 👿

BTW, I personally like decent meatloaf a bunch, as does LambiePieK.

We both have recipes which we favor. (Hers is very good, but I like mine slightly better.) 😉

Hungry, now. Must. Make. Soon.

I lament a bit that the “recipe” forum on Teh Wheel, never caught on. I’d probably have posted some of my favorites there long ago and would’ve been happily cooking up everyone else’s!

How many “normal folks” could get their phone calls put through to Auntie Maxine? Notice how she just jumps right in and lends her support, without knowing a single thing about the situation? Keep that in mind the next time you hear a politician or performer talk about any subject.

Yeah, but where was Auntie Maxine when Guam was about to capsize.

Hey, Paddy!

Har! for the prank.

“Aunt Esther” “Auntie Maxine” sure managed to bump her gums a lot without saying anything. Also am amused she botched the name of the fakey-pretend island.

It’s, erm, deplorable that people like her rule us. But only because we let them.

In keeping with my strange music related thoughts this morning, I came upon this:

Haunting and beautiful.

Hard to believe this was 50 years ago.

I recall seeing / hearing the media coverage of Woodstock as a thirteen-year-old and thinking, “That does not look a good time to me.” (I also wasn’t a fan of most of the artists who were appearing, which might have affected my attitude.) 👿

TBH, at that age I thought the long hair on guys and some of the clothes were cool, but I mostly thought hippies acted like morons what with all the flowers, dancing around, peace-and-love hooey, etc.

(I’d thought long hair on guys was neat at an even younger age, after seeing old paintings, illustrations of historical figures, etc. Used to argue with my maternal grandma who thought short hair was more “masculine”; I’d ask her if she thought our Founders, Moses, etc. were not “manly”. It’s like I’ve been a smartass cynic forever.)

Rhino Records sold-out their 38-CD limited edition of nearly every minute of Woodstock audio which is still extant…at $800 a pop.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I didn’t know this until seeing this video, but apparently Joni was not at Woodstock. It’s interesting to hear her talking about it like it was not the iconic thing it’s portrayed as now.

But actually I was reacting to the composition and style more than the subject matter of the piece.

On the other note, yes, the thought of actually being at Woodstock gives me the heebee jeebees …. all that mud and pot smoke…..

Oh carp…that low-grade, poorly-dried brown Mexi-weed loaded with seeds and stems. The stuff available when I moved to CA in ’78 was a very pleasant -- and ginormous -- improvement.

I wish they’d legalize it at the federal level so I could do a couple of bong rips at home on a weekend night without putting my 2A rights at risk. (Since I prefer pot over alcohol.)

It’s really stupid that it’d be perfectly fine with BATFE if I sipped some bourbon and took a Diazepam (for which I have a prescription). But get caught doing a couple of tokes -- especially in GA -- and I could lose my right to armed self-defense.

Plus risk being locked in a cage…for smoking a dried flower.

I hear the opening chords of Bad Company in there.

Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Yup.

Had a composition / theory teacher who used to say, “Don’t steal from anybody; steal from everybody.” (Along with the admonition that one should take the stolen bits and make ’em their own.)

========================

With the 27 arrangements I’ve done of classic rock/pop tunes -- in the event I ever get off my ass and put one last band together -- there’s literally “borrowed” stuff in every chart. Some of it’s purposely blatant; a lot of it’s “sneaky” just ’cause I found a musical way to include it. 😉

(Making a commercial recording of said new band isn’t part of the business plan. Which is good, as obtaining music clearances would be a costly PITA.)

Happy Caturday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and dv8!

Maybe we should all add a few recipes to the Recipe thread.

We started putting away Christmas, yesterday. I’ll see if I can get the lights down today. I also need to go down the hill and attach the unwelcome Brazilian Pepper tree saplings with steel and chemical warfare.

I would love that. Right now, I don’t have permission to post there. I think only authors, but not editors.

I just posted Jerry’s Cincinnati Chili recipe there. I created a new thread in the food forum, rather than responding to the TSWadministrator’s post titled “Recipes”. You should be able to post, as well.
