Cheers for the Conservative Treehouse link; I found it oddly comforting in that there are probably a lot more folks than I think there are who lean in the same general direction as me.
While I’m no Trump fanboy, I do want to see him reelected. He’s been a far better POTUS to-date than I’d have ever anticipated, largely due to exposing the extent of just how farked our civic institutions are. (Less through his actions than their reactions to him perhaps, but still…)
For myriad reasons, he’s been a “shit-stirrer” par excellence and what his election has exposed is at least an order of magnitude worse than I ever imagined.
Which is pretty damned frightening.
I tend to agree there will be no going back, but I fear going forward is likely to suck, as there are so many ways it could go horribly wrong.
My immigrant Dad was -- I believe -- more “American” than a plurality of my fellow citizens. He mostly wanted to be left the hell alone and was willing to accord the same treatment to others…unless they refused to leave others alone.
I often wonder what he’d think of the present state of our country; I miss his counsel…and his company.
I will say I’m a big fan of how funny the President is. Well, he’s always been funny, so it should be no surprise to anyone, but for some reason people really liked him before he decided to run for president, and they think, for some reason, things are different now. But he’s still the same guy.
I also love how he seems to bait the press into talking about what he wants them to talk about. No other Republican has been so successful at doing that.

This makes me skeered! Fatwa can imagine a lot of worse. If it’s exceeded his imaginings…**shudder**
By the way, a friend of ours gave us disney+ so we could watch The Mandelorian. It was very interesting that it took almost 30 years to create some Star-Warsey stuff that was actually watchable.
We also watched a few episodes of Clone Wars (although I believe I saw some of that before.) Funny how I thought, “Well this is maybe where the characters from the prequels are introduced.” But, they don’t actually introduce those characters in “Clone Wars” either. They just kind of dump them on you. Nobody seems to have an arc. So I guess George Lucas just continued that trend.
This is where The Mandelorian is superior. It has scenes that develop characters in addition to those cool PSTD flashback sequences. Maybe it’s not perfect. Like, the carbonite thing was supposed to be experimental in The Empire Strikes Back. Still, I guess word could have gotten around and carbonite storage could have been perfected for such purposes, by the time of The Mandelorian.
Gee. What wonderful news. Neil Young is now an American citizen. I was tired of his whining when he was just a Canadian -- imagine he’ll turn it to 11 now.
