Sorry you’re short on sleep; hope you get through the day okay. And congrats on the firsties.

Here at CasaK, I rinse produce under running water (as I’ve never been overly worried about pesticides since I’m already a mutant).
I see that Mr. Wadministrator has made another change to teh sidebar; hiya, Jerry!!1!
Woke up to a lot of JimCo-related emails in the ol’ inbox. Mostly pertaining to one HOA that’s being a major PITA.
It’s a shame that after we’ve saved their asses several times over the past three years from the appalling work done by their previous roofer, we have apparently not yet earned much trust. Frustrating, as we’ve been very fair in our pricing and informed them of some pretty serious flaws in their current roof drainage systems throughout the complex.
Which have had a few catastrophic failures we correctly diagnosed and repaired after their previous roofer failed to do so. We’ve also tried to save them a lot of money on several repairs where they insisted we do work which was completely unnecessary because loudmouthed -- and clueless -- homeowners know our trade better than we do. 👿
Like I said: frustrating.
We’ll see how this latest effort goes; we’re pretty close to telling them to sod off.
Happy Historic Hump Day, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven, and Fatwa!
Sven -- we rinse produce under running water and scrub apples, lemons (which we usually zest), and potatoes with a vegetable brush. If I were buying organic produce, I’d be much more scrupulous in washing my fruits and veggies. Organic produce is still raised using herbicides and pesticides, they just use “natural” ones, and apply them at much higher rates, because they are less effective. Of course that also causes problems with soil and water contamination due to run-off, but that’s another story.
Sven, we’re unfortunately in such a chic area that sometimes the only thing we can get is organic produce *spit*. Because I take a drug that knocks out my immune system, if I’m feeling unwell I dip the produce in a tub filled with water that has a little bit of hydrogen peroxide in it. Sometimes it does make celery a little weird when I’ve gotten too much of the peroxide in the water tho. This is all that is in some of those fancy produce cleaners one can buy; although I suppose it would be nice to have a better guide to the ratio of water to hydrogen peroxide than “dump in a tiny bit”, I’m comfortable with the cheap solution.
Most of the hydrogen peroxide veggie wash articles I’ve read use helpful amounts like “add 1/4 cup peroxide to a sink full of water”. How big is your sink? How full is full? I did find one that called for 1 tablespoon per gallon.
Sven, that’s a lot to go though to beat Fatwa onto the Wheel; but, okay. To each his own! I admire your dedication. Hope you make it through the day okay.
Fatwa, HOA’s are evil creations. If only you could take the piece of paper out of it’s mouth and replace it! I wish you well, Sir!
Seconding the Evil HOA assertions. We live under one. It would be fine if I were a Democrat, maybe… like… I’d love government so freaking much that I’d be chomping at the bit to be under the thumb of another miserable layer of it. But, as it stands, I’m not thrilled with it. It’s expensive, and I get a very limited bang-for-buck ratio.
But at least the outside of the place looks nice. So that’s good, I guess.
Hello. I’m at work getting through the day. For whatever reason all my sins seem to be popping into my head during the night. I mean stuff going back God 50 years. It’s unpleasant.
I so understand your pain. I was taught that a large part of being a Christian was a willingness to bear each other’s burdens and so I will pray diligently for you, Sven, even more diligently than I have these last many years, that you might find peace and reconciliation in your life. As Paddy said, strength and courage, my friend.
Teh Dreadlock project is severely behind schedule, due to my work schedule and me being too tired to mess with it after protracted long shifts.
Plus, there’s the sleep schedule switching around thingy that I keep doing so that I can get to church and do other church-related activities. My days are pretty full these days with this and that.
I put together a bathroom wall cabinet tonight and had CSPAN on in the background listening to the impeachment questions. It was nice to hear more or less civil proceedings, but the Dems are just so full of righteous indignation that they left me shaking my head. The party of facts and science -- yeah, right.
Looking on the bright side, even though I had terrible dreams and slept very little, I am on teh wheel before Fatwa!
is this a melatonin thing, or something else?
¡Hola, GN y buenas dias Sven!

That’s about what I use, Paddy. About 1Tbs per gal. Maybe a little bit less but not much.
I like the sidebar comment. Very perspicacious

I know there’s things that I’ve got to come to terms with . And not put off any further as far as trying to rectify.
Prayers for strength and courage as you work through this, Sven.

So it goes. Back to the salt mines
I had so much to do this morning that I didn’t get to the thread until now.
Thread-catching-up-on greetings, Gerbil Nation! I will comment again once I get up to speed with today’s going’s on.
Teh Dreadlock project is severely behind schedule, due to my work schedule and me being too tired to mess with it after protracted long shifts.

Thank you friends, for your prayers and consideration.

And off to bed -- sleep well, GN.
Nite-nite, Sven, sweet dreams.
