Happy Caturday, GN!

You lot were certainly chatty last evening; iz nice to see. I went to bed early; had a busy day yesterday and will “rinse and repeat” today but with packing / planning rather than admin / errand carp.

Um, yay?

Good morning and happy Saturday. Hi, Fatwa -- you won’t be far from us in Canoga Park. Very cool -- get settled in and then give us a call. Safe travels tomorrow.

What a joy to read yesterday’s thread this morning -- I always enjoyed reading the more lengthy conversations between Mac and Miss Harper years back -- and now they are back!

Happy Caturday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!

Fatwa -- happy packing and safe travels.

I caught an installment of the Ken Burns, PBS country music documentary last night. It’s the second installment I’ve seen and the bits of music they play sure bring back the memories.

Hi, Sven and Paddy!

Cheers for the good wishes!

I concur with Sven re the long conversations ‘twixt Harper and Mac.

Beautiful, Fatwa! And no ‘splodin tulip tree!

dv8 used to tell me not to worry so much about packing for a trip as I could just buy what I had forgotten when I got there. I believe he hoped I’d forget things just so he could get new things for me sometimes! He’s tricky like that.

If you leave out packing stuff you can just pack you “gear” and suit in a carry-on, do a quick shopping trip, and offload all the casuals on the Svens before you fly home. Just use hotel shampoo and buy extra large Tshirts so Mrs. Sven can use them as night shirts. I can see her now in a night shirt emblazoned with “Drop The Base”

That was a poke at me. I have that shirt.

It’s striking, well at least to me, that the media has been all over Trump whenever he uses the word “nationalist” which they insist is code for nazi/white supremacy, but the word “socialism” despite all its negative connotations throughout history is OK.

It must be because the establishment is predominantly overrun with Marxism, and pretty much has been since 1914 or thereabouts.

I was trying to set up a romantic event for Valentine’s Day, but Mrs Sven has voted, emphatically, no. And yet she’s always saying how we should try new things…

https://www.atlasobscura.com/experiences/guided-bug-wine-pairing

What We’ll Do

Like a wine and cheese pairing, minus the cheese (and plus the bugs)! Much like a Sauvignon Blanc goes well with lobster, a crisp white wine brings out the delicate flavors of a scorpion.
There are over 2100 identified species of edible bugs, each with incredibly delicate and unique flavor profiles. Experience the flavor arc of a spiced grasshopper: leading with hints of chili and lime, unfolding into a subtle fruity bouquet, and ending with a cool, lingering heat. The grasshopper pairs wonderfully with a Cabernet Franc, matching the fruity undertones and packing enough flavor to stand up to the tannins.

Following a short presentation on sustainability, nutrition, insect farming and more, the tastings will commence. Included is a guided adventure through 4 -- 7 wines. Each wine is thoughtfully matched with two bugs to showcase a wide variety of flavor profiles.

For bug-beginners, we offer adjusted menus and a comfortable, familiar setting to embolden you to try new things. If you’re worried that your friends will be hesitant to get on board with bugs, that’s what we’re here for! For adventurous eaters, we offer exotic varieties. Pairing bugs with wines allows us to celebrate bugs in their full glory without hiding them in dishes.

Oh, Sven, you’re a giver. Maybe try a wine and flower pairing next time? Cheeses with jam and edible flowers ought to be a fun match although I’m not sure where you’d find such a thing. Sounds English to me.

Hm….now that I think of it, there are wineries just outside Sedona! (insert little grinning devil face here).

My compliments to Jerrie Attrick. We were just talking today about how nice the site still looks and how easy it is to use. Just the right number of bells and whistles, not to mention a nice theme.

Agreed. Plus I think about the old Wheelies. I was gonna name them, then I got teary eyed, so I didn’t. And I’m pretty sorry that I didn’t come on for all those years. I’m so glad I was able to make it okay for Harper to be here again.

I will say that not a day went by that I didn’t think of you all.
