I had a lovely visit with the Svens yesterday. It included a great deal of inappropriate laughter regarding the candle Gwyneth Paltrow has been marketing recently. (And our agreement that Caitlin Jenner ought not follow suit.)
They also had a couple of lovely parting gifts for BrendaK and me (which I shall not describe until after I return to Larryville, as I don’t wish to spoil the surprise).
Sven and Mrs. Sven --
I hope neither of you experienced the same, erm, digestive distress I enjoyed earlier this morning. (I’d hate to think that dining establishment with the exemplary service we patronized last night gave us food poisoning, too.) 👿
BTW -- Sven makes a mean (read “awesome”) artichoke dip and blueberry cobbler. (No…not combined.) Mrs. Sven said he spent all morning in the kitchen yesterday.

Nice to see you stopped-by last night! In addition to your excellent suggestions for Sven’s “classical music appreciation” perusal, I recommended Bernstein’s Harvard lectures series (at least skimming some of the early ones) as a way of acquiring a little “technical” background. (The one Lenny did on the origins of harmony was pretty mind-bending to me when I was in H.S…)
Have dined there several times previously; a good dive bar with good dive bar food. Re service: last night was probably attributable to an “off night”…it happens.
Dunno if the Svens had the same “malady” which hit me; hope not. (Wasn’t too bad but still…as my Great Grandpa Dan used to say, “Not. Good.”)
I went poking around in the past today and found this:

A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8!
Thanks for the link, dv8. I’ve been re-reading the stories and remembering.
It was good to see the lovely BrendaK on the MO. Sorry I missed her.
Gooooood morniiiiing, GN!

BBL.
Good morning, Fatwa!
Bad service and food poisoning? Maybe you should let Mrs. Sven pick the restaurant next time.
Hi, Paddy!
Voiceover: “The restaurant was my suggestion.”
