Happy Friday Firsties, Gerbil Nation!

Comet viewing was better last night (we could see the comet), but not as good as Monday night when we only had one pair of binoculars. The marine layer didn’t push in as far, but there was still just enough to make the comet fuzzy. Oh well, at least we were able to see it.

I get to record more training lessons today. Oh boy! At least I don’t have to be perfect. If I mess up, I can just put in a 5 second pause and start that slide over. Someone else will edit it.

How easily did you adapt from classroom to distance learning as an instructor?

It took me about a month, but I already had experience using online platforms to post my slide decks, homework, and recorded lectures. For most teachers who aren’t afraid of technology, it takes about a year to achieve an acceptable level of competence.

Happy Friday, GN!

Given how much I pay attention to the news, I knew nothing of this comet until my neighborhood walk this morning. You’d think my StarTracker app would have notified me. Boo!

It’s still hot here on the prairie, and I’m whittling through cooling techniques for one stretch of the route … I’ve been good with hats, sunblock and water, but lately it’s a little rougher.
I may be bringing the golf umbrella next time -- *theoretically* we’re supposed to get some rain. Which could make the perceived heat better or worse. We shall see.

And ‘den!

While I was turned down for the scribe position I applied for, the gal I interviewed with asked permission to keep me on tap for an upcoming project, so the letdown wasn’t as crushing as it could have been.

I’ve got Medical Coding books I’m studying with the thought of testing out for that aptitude …

I’ve also applied for a State certificate as Pharmacy Tech in Training. Once that’s issued (on or around the 11th), I can start applying for those positions and learn on the job as opposed to taking online classes.
(Mr. TeX wants to spend the least amount possible for any additional education or training.)

AND Wal-Mart has called me again (the last time they didn’t leave a name in the message and part of the extension# cutoff) for another position.

So, we’ll see what happens. o_0

Meanwhile, I hope everyone has a swell day, and … lunch!

BBL.

I hope so too. TeX!

I’m sorry I have to sleep, as I’ve been up working all night.

Memories: All three sites are still up I think (including this one) The original DHD site and the old wheel, I think is up still also. It’s such an interesting thing, I wonder if Mike Knudsen would like to do a “Down the Rabbit Hole” episode of the whole epic saga. It would be just the kind of thing he might be interested in.

It’s amazing when you think about it.

Sven: If I recall correctly, “Automock” was Harper’s idea, She can really be a disruptive force : ) She knew it would probably be easy enough for the Joes to code that up, so she put the idea worm in their heads.

Also I remember “Pwnd By Gerbils!!!” which we used to put up on all her old sites when they were taken down pursuant to her sentence prohibiting her from being on the net.

Big Route is over for the morning. I blew a tire on the company car I take on the route. So I was pretty close to my home oddly enough. So… I drove very carefully back to where I live. And I could not for the life of me figure out how to work the spare tire in that thing (which is a weird Caddy SUV)

So, I took MY caddy back to work and tried all the other vehicles that I knew weren’t being used that morning. This ended up being the BIG VAN that they use to bring the papers down to Cottonwood.

So, then… I finished the route but now BOTH my cars are at the newspaper. But when I was pulling in, the other comercial driver was just getting back so I asked him if he would give me a ride back to the shop. So I got in my caddy, and he followed me home and took me back so I could take my Kia home,

That whole fiasco made the route take an extra couple of hours. But that means I got paid more, so it’s all good…………

Sorry to hear about your work woes, but glad you were able to get it all sorted out. The engineer in me wants to look at that spare tire.

Good-bye, Columbus. I have a very vague memory of seeing that statue at Grant Park when I was maybe 3 or so. It’s a mistake giving in to the mob on an anything and then taking action in the middle of the night. Coward.
