To mac: You just have to click “block” on the permission request. And you can still be in on the meeting, you can then type text in the chat window. That link is on the lower left of the window. Or you can just watch the teleconference silently as well.

I read this morning that my county is getting $23.1 million to turn two motels (132 rooms) into homeless shelters. One of them has been serving as a homeless shelter since early in the COVID pandemic. That works out to $175,000 per room. The article didn’t say whether the county was purchasing the properties, or if this is just money to pay the owners for some period of time. Either way, it looks that this would be just the start of ongoing expenses.
Hotels would be a bit of an overkill -- why not look for abandoned/empty city properties and convert those over? Curious if they did purchase these or if the current owners will continue to own and collect rent?
