Good morning,

This was big news on all the local news channels last night -- the spin being that the CA-GOP was once again trying to suppress the vote.

Happy Dad-joke Tuesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven!

Well at least the GOP leadership is fighting back against Padilla and Becerra and not caving. The article also mentioned new “emergency regulations” issued by SOS Padilla allowing people to vote using their sample ballot, or even jotting down their choices on a note card. When you are allowing that kind of voting, you have no standing to complain about election integrity.

Good article, but I was even more stoked to see who authored it -- when I switched careers almost 20 years ago, she was my first teacher.

I remember that program well -- I have a couple of books left from then -- one on codes and ciphers and The Forgotten Door.

You can go to the CA Sec. of State’s website and check on your voter registration, and even track your ballot.

A weird rodent story.

I mentioned before that Mrs’ Sven’s jeep was rodent infested to the point of a huge nest built on top of the battery. It was really odd because I’d popped the hood not long before and she does drive it a couple of days a week. Anyhow, cleaned it out and then looked at it yesterday again and there were more rodent droppings plus plant/nest materials scattered throughout the engine compartment. The more I looked, the more I found. No wire damage that I can see -- that’s a blessing.

Cleaned out what I could and thought to put a mouse trap on top of the air cleaner, which seemed to be a favorite place. Figured the worse that could happen was the trap would be sprung. Before I left this morning, I popped the hood. No dead rodent and no trap. Huh?

The engine compartment is really cramped, I mean like really cramped, but I’m peering everywhere looking for the trap. Nothing. Crawled underneath. Nothing. Checked the surrounding areas and street. Nothing.

The only thing I can figure is that it was a rat and the trap sprung, but didn’t kill it and it took off. The hood’s been up all day and it’s hot out -- no dead animal smell. I got no other explanation.

Going to set a couple of traps tonight underneath the engine compartment on the driveway and see what happens. Gotta get that engine cleaned though.
