Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Vulpine Dad Joke Monday greetin’s, GN!

Paddy --

Glad to read that your MiL is improving ; hope you all had a pleasant visit yesterday.

============================

CorporateToolK’s taking some PTO this week, although she had to fix some broken code yesterday and will be keeping an eye on some stuff over the next few days.

But no “meetings”, phone calls, etc.; it’s a bit like an early Christmas gift. 😉

I have various JimCo loose ends to tidy-up before the end of the year; bah!

Ooooh…it’s also the Winter Solstice today.

Just had a Squirrel Skirmish behind CasaK; about five of the little buggers chasing each other around from tree-to-tree while chittering aggressively. (I noticed that none o’ them little bastards were wearing masks, either.)

Happy Monday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!

My MiL was doing very well yesterday, and stayed longer than expected, which is a blessing. We normally have a rather large group for Christmas dinner, but this year it will only be the four of us. A few others may join us later for dessert -- we’ll see. That means the prime rib I cook will be the smallest I’ve done in a while.

Mrs. Paddy’s church has been doing both online services and an in-person, outdoor service for several months now. Mine is still strictly online, but that’s a different story. Anyway, she got a call last night that one of the attendees, a 90-year old woman, tested positive for COVID, so she needs to notify those she might have come in contact with. On top of that, the son of their secretary tested positive for COVID, so we all have to wait until at least tomorrow to find out the results of the secretary’s COVID test. If she tests positive, then Mrs. Paddy needs to get tested, along with the rest of Casa du Furnijur. What fun!

Here’s hoping all tests are negative, Paddy.

There being a dearth of movies I feel inclined to watch on Nextflix or Prime, Mrs Sven and I watched the 1971 film Harold and Maude last night. I can remember seeing it when it first came out in Chicago with my cousin and brother -- we must have been back in Chicago for one funeral or another, but which one I don’t recall -- and I’ve probably seen it again once or twice over the last 50 years.

Both Bud Cort and Ruth Gordon are fabulous in the title roles and the Cat Stevens’ soundtrack is good as well; this was well before Stevens went full on Muslim. Worth watching if you’ve never seen it, or rewatching if it’s been a while.

California: where stupid fuckin’ ideas are born and allowed to live.

“Bonta said tax “avoidance” would not be allowed as California would tax them for the next ten years, despite what state they live in. Bonta said that because they accrued the wealth in California, the state can continue to legally tax it.”

Hi, Sven and Paddy!

Sven --

I appreciate that someone went to an awful lot of effort building that rustic xylophone.

Paddy --

Glad your MiL’s visit was longer than anticipated.

Here’s hoping all tests are negative, Paddy.

Same wishes from CasaK, Mr. O’.

FTFY, Sven.

Alternatively: There’s your problem. 👿

Well I got something done today -- finished Christmas cards and the year end $ donations. Now all I have to do is get them in the mail -- tell you what, my cursive has gone to hell. I need to sit down and write more by hand on a regular basis.

Prayers for a good outcome -- followed by good coffee!
Glad you’re able to refinance at a much lower rate, Mac!
