Last evening I sorta tried streaming the real piano. Well, not successfully. I was trying to kill two birds with one stone. See… A long time ago, I inadvertently discovered that you could make a surprisingly good recording with two pretty crappy mics, if you put one near and one far away. line leveled them, and put each one respectively all the way on the left and right speaker. So one mic for each side of the stereo. Even if these recordings sound terrible separately, they seem to sound very good together. Perhaps it is because the crappy mics compliment each other, or because the spacing introduces some phase delay between the two sides. I’m not sure, but I just know I discovered a pretty easy way to make a nice sounding stereo recording back in my 20s using very cheap equipment.

So I attempted to replicate that in my OBS setup. But unfortunately one of my USB mics is seen (in dev_caps) as a mono device, and for some reason OBS doesn’t have the ability to pan such devices. So I’ll need a plugin or an additional piece of mixer software to make that work.

Or I’ll have to use a different mic. (I was trying to do it with only what I had out in the living room already--that was the goal)

Anyway. I can probably do it with other mics I have, but not one of the two I normally use with the laptop.

Sven, I hope The windstorm didn’t do too much damage, and everything else is okay.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes on monday. Harper seems to be doing better that usual after one of these treatments. They usually wipe her out for a couple of days, but this time, she seems to have a lot more energy.

Boy I’m chatty today. Well… don’t know what to say about the political stuff. I have a feeling that The Donald might continue to be a thorn in the side of the Marxist People’s Democratic Revolutionary Party. But I’m not sure what will happen.

On the tech front, there is some buzz about Marxists wanting to cripple and build censorship into web browsers themselves, so people on smartphones and even computers will have a more difficult time going around the app store monopoly.

I really, really, really hate these people.

Marxists realize that they can’t win without censorship. That’s why they love it so much.

!Hola, GerbiliƱos!

Hi, dv45 (and Harper)!

Glad Harper’s treatment went so well; hope teh Svens still have electricity and that Paddy’s cow-worker got the downed power pole issue resolved.

I’m feeling pretty despondent today. I haven’t been afraid of my fellow Americans since being a little boy during the civil rights era (when many adults threatened me and my brother with violence and death because our folks stood-up for equality).

Given that one of my new U.S. Senators is a Jooo-hating and racist piece of shit, I’d say that all worked out really well…yay!

BBL…assuming I’m not in a gulag.

Happy “We welcome our new Overlords” Wednesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8, and Fatwa!

Teh Thread Otter must be looking towards Washington, D.C.

dv8 -- glad to hear that Harper is doing well. Sorry about your issues with live-streaming. Some days technology is not your friend. I fear that may become a more permanent condition under the new administration.

Good morning on this sad day, GN. Hello Fawa and Dv8. On the homefront, our power is on, winds are gusty but not steady, and no out-of-control fires in the vicinity. Once again I’m baffled by where power was shut off and where it wasn’t as a lot of the flatland/urban areas still without power. So it goes.

Been stuck in PC hell today -- eventually had to uninstall and reinstall MS Office. Things seem to be working now.

I’ve really begun to despise AlaahPundit over at Hot Air. In fact, the whole site is mostly carp.

I tend to agree with this assessment: https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2021/01/trump-fought-the-swamp-and-the-swamp-won-2.php

The swamp did win, but what Trump did in fighting it was to drag it out into the sunlight -- there’s no one in America today that can claim to be unaware of the dangers of not just DC, but critical race theory, leftists in general and the Dems in particular, school indoctrination, trusting elites, the media, and social media. There is no one in the Republican establishment that was more willing to fight the cultural wars that needed fighting. Had he won reelection, there might have been a chance to turn America’s ship around. Having lost, he’s at least given us a fighting chance moving forward.

The GOP is highly suspect, but I do like that they are going after Liz Cheney and I hope the Senate does do their impeachment trial -- that will show their true colors.

It’s the local GOP in a very small state that is going after the establishment senator -- a distinction that needs to be kept in mind. Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham certainly wouldn’t do such a thing. Given what I’m hearing about McConnell’s and his wife’s business ties to China, I’m sure he’ll get along great with the Biden administration.
