Re “renewable energy”: it’s quite interesting to read a bit about both the manufacturing and disposal/recycling processes for solar panels and wind turbines. (They’re a lot less “eco-friendly” when that stuff’s factored in and being able to present such facts to their supporters really vexes them.) 👿
As Larry Elder has said for decades, “Facts to liberals are like kryptonite to Superman.”
I suspect this will be another, erm, interesting week for the stock market.
Good morning, GN -- hello, Fatwa and happy start of another month under the new regime.
I generally dislike, in a minor way, feel good proclamations like “National Smile Day” and the like but I think Black History Month is really going to stick in my craw this year given the BLM backdrop.
Right ontime, SoCal Edison pulled our power plug. Hopefully they can stay on schedule and get us back up and running like other civilized people by 4:00.
I’m letting my battery backup run the home wireless network instead of switching over to a phone hot spot. So far it’s kept it up 90 minutes -- curious to see when it will run out of juice.
Cooking breakfast on our soon-to-be-outlawed-in-Califronia natural gas stovetop. And outside, above the noise of crews down the hill, I can hear the sound of CA in the 21st Century from all of our neighbors: gas-powered generators.
Oregon Muse over at AoS was dead nuts on this morning: “Oh, and by the way: America is the greatest country in history and has been the hope of oppressed and misgoverned people all over the world for many years. That is something to be proud of. She does not need to shuffle across the world stage in sackcloth and ashes begging forgiveness for her sins. Whatever sins America has committed are dwarfed by her achievements”

I don’t know the reason for the weird bolding and odd spacing in my previous comment.
(Edit mode was unhelpful.)

Hi, Sven!
February was selected for Black History Month ’cause it’s the shortest month.
Clear evidence of straight-up racism. 👿
====================
Is the guy that thought Guam was going to tip over still in Congress?
Yep, Hank Johnson is still mis-representing DeKalb County.
Paddy is correct; that seat was formerly held by Cynthia McKinney.
It is accursed…by an extra special type of ignorance. (Including -- but not limited to -- Jooo hate.)

Happy Monday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
Sven -- sorry about your continued power issues. Hopefully Edison can replace those poles and restring the lines on time.
Fatwa -- lefties never want to think about the unintended consequences of their proposals.
Hiya, Paddy!
The left doesn’t exactly have a monopoly on legislation rife with unintended consequences.
Sven --
That sucks about your power; hope SCE’s able to meet their proposed schedule.

Power is back on,but I don’t think they did much work -- they never made it up the hill to our house. Obviously no poles replaced.
Cool though -- my battery backup ran the modem and wireless router for 2.5 hours -- good to know.
