Gonna be a busy JimCo-related day; he sent me a bunch of emails late last night PST. Bah!
Paddy --
Glad replacing your MiL’s shower fixture went smoothly; hope for the same re the remodeling work.
Tempted to go back to bed as last night’s “cerebro-cinema” was not conducive to a restful sleep. But stuff needs to get done; hopefully a shower will wake my ass up.

I was just talking to a friend about the vivid ones I’ve had in the past.
Particularly when I was attending (marxist) PSU. The whole time I went there, I carried a Glock 9 x 19. It’s main mag held 16 rounds IIRC. My fanny pack also had room for a second mag which held 20 rounds and stuck out the bottom of the handle a bit.
Now, I’d always heard from a variety of sources that “if you can’t get the Job done with one magazine, then you probably won’t need the second,” or something similar. So I always vacillated upon whether to carry the extra weight around all day or not. I mean, I had the little pocket for the extra mag, so why not? OR: Why carry that extra weight what possible use could it be?
So, one night I had a dream wherein I had to shoot it out with several guys robbing a roadside diner I was eating at. I remember having to jump through a window to get out of there. One thing that helped was that I was able to lay down a lot of cover fire. So, in the dream, I remember thinking “Wow. THAT’S what the second magazine is good for.
That, btw, was one of the more tame nightmares I had while attending that school. About a year or so after I quit, I stopped having nightmares like that.
I believe in always carrying at least one extra magazine. The one in the gun can be lost or damaged and a spare magazine can keep the gun operational. Even though a double stack pistol might hold more ammo than a single stack and a reload, I would feel unprepared without at least one extra magazine. I carried daily for more than twenty years in California. It was mostly just a five shot revolver with six extra rounds, but I had to give priority to concealment and I felt comfortable with it. After moving to Texas I switched to a Kahr CW40, a double action only semiauto in .40S&W caliber. After getting my permit I may switch to a S&W K frame revolver.
CA gasoline prices aren’t that high, yet. They have gone up by about $.50 this year so far with biggest increases occurring in February -- don’t know if that lines up with the rest of the country. Statewide, average for regular is $3.65 -- LA is likely higher.
Glanced at the latest coverage of Cuomo’s sexual harassment troubles. What struck me, from my white male privilege sexist perspective, is that all of the accusers appear to be well-educated, successful women and yet they have zero idea of how to respond to or handle sloppy flirtatious advances from a man.
It’s the “I shouldn’t have to put up with that/teach men not to rape” approach vs. “shit is going to happen and here’s what YOU can/should do about it” approach.
I have no sympathy for Cuomo even tho I feel the harassment allegations are not that big of a deal -- at this time in my life, anything that takes down a leftie is fine with me. I don’t like that America appears more concerned about relatively minor allegations than major policy decisions and an apparent coverup that killed people, but so it goes.
The Floyd murder case is starting up in Minnesota. Everything that I’ve read and watched makes me lean towards a not guilty verdict for all officers involved, at least if it’s a fair trial.
We do have some small amount of rain scheduled for later in the week, but CA is way behind on rain and snowfall this season again, meaning a dry summer and fall with more fires and power outage likely.
Monday…yay!

There seems to be a story here -- PSU? And you had to carry or chose to carry?
I’ve had several bad dreams lately -- don’t know if they mean something or it’s just what it is.

Should be fuel for voting Newsom out of office.
Good morning, Fatwa -- happy Monday, GN
Enjoyed last night’s sonata, Miss Harper -- thanks!
I admit it -- I had to google “Hasselback Potatoes” but looks interesting. Might give it a try this week.

Yeah, maybe I’ll try those potatoes also. Looks like a great side dish.
Happy Night-Owl Monday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
Fatwa -- I hope this latest batch of rain results in lots of fresh jobs, with decent clients.
Sven -- excellent point, in re Cuomo. It would appear that feminism has once again let down women.

Ben Shapiro’s breakdown of this last week was pretty spot on.
Shapiro is a treasure -- quick thinking, quick talking, and usually on point. I’ll look for his podcast.
