Yesterday’s thread is the first I heard of CA doing away with DST. Arizona never had it, and Oregon and Washington should just switch to permanent DST instead of switching back and forth. People would get more sun in the winter if they did. Now, when they switch from DST in the winter, if you have a normal 9 to 5, you drive to work in the dark and drive home in the dark. If they left it in place, you’d drive to work in the dark but have an hour or so of daylight after you got home.
This might hold true for all the north most places including all of Canada.
They are predicting wintery mix this evening and early morning. I wonder how right they are. Weather.com was more or less correct for our last winter storm.
Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven, Jerry!, Fatwa, and Mac!
It seems all it takes to get the comments up is a visit by Jerry. That certainly says something. What it says, I’m not sure of, but it does say something.
Speaking of saying something, I wonder how Jerry’s new Boston neighbors will react to one of his “bathroom serenades”?
As I kid I was willing to tolerate the grated carrots in the lime jello with the whipped cream topping, until that first bite revealed it to be Miracle Whip. What fiendish trickery is this?!
Later in life, I was doing some work at my MiL’s and she made me lunch. That red jello with walnuts turned out to be tomato aspic. That’s a big nope!
I just had breakfast/lunch, a flax bread (Thank you to the Gentle Lady) with a banana, then two leftover hamburger patties and a few potato chips. I am a stuffed gerbil.
Elena still makes me a flax bread almost every weekday morning. It is often all I eat until dinner. Many thanks for the recipe, my friend.
Plaguie has been busy in the midnight oil. I think there is but one sonnet left in the Xerex sequence. My own reaction is part cringe and part “hmmm… how in the world did I think of all that?”
Big Route tonight; harper plans on going. We certainly both got plenty of sleep, so we’re probably both ready.
They say there might be snow tonight. We’ll see. It really doesn’t feel like it to me, but the weather predicts some snow for the night. So… we’ll see….
I’m up. Yeah.
Get to commentin’ y’ all.
Drive-by:
G’day GN, Sven and Jerry!
(“Sven & Jerry’s” should be our ice cream company spinoff; I’ll think up some wrong flavors for teh test kitchen to experiment with.)
Goodness gracious…I’m happy it’s nearing the end of the work week!
I hope this carpy comment will help get our numbers up. 🙂
I wasn’t aware that CA had voted to end DST, either. Ah…the wonders of (un-)representational government
Having another week of dealing with “Teh Stoopid”; oh, well…perhaps next week will feature fewer dead-from-the-neck-up requests. Hey…it could happen.
BBL.
=============
I don’t have any off the top of my head, but I’d suggest avoiding “Phrisch Food”.

Actually, it is gloomy and the wind is howling.

Uh, that maybe he scares the carp out of us?
Teh Blue Glove is not to be taken lightly.
And without proper…erm…preparation.
Another drive-by:
Hai, Paddy and Mac!
Some wrong ice cream flavor ideas:
• Peanut Butter & Chunky Mayonnaise
• Sardine Chocolate Chip
• Lime Sherbet / Carrot Shaving / Miracle Whip
• Neapolitan ‘N’ Sausage Gravy
• Crunchy Scrod & Malt Vinegar
To borrow directly from Monty Python, Crunchy Frog! YUMMM!
Zzzzzzzz…….(((poof)))
Pistachio & Bellybutton Lint
Winner!

Sven & Jerry’s newest flavor:
Poutine ripple -- brown gravy swirled into potato ice cream with chunky cheese curds.
Makes an excellent Molsen’s float.
You people are being very naughty.

Be safe out there!
Has anyone heard from X_LA? Her last post was some months ago. She is a very clever gerbil and I miss reading her witty posts.
Good storm here -- thunder, lightning, hail. Thank you, ZOG!
Beat me by a handful of seconds!
Beautiful mostly clear skies farther south.
I hear that Sven’s part of the world is getting thunder, lightning, and large hail. I hope Jack Tatum and the Raccoons are okay.
Hmm, sounds like the name for an R&B band.
Lightning stirke close by -- power out.
Hmm, I wonder if they’ll need to put in new poles?
Back up -- but man, haven’t seen weather like this here in years. A break in the action, but supposed to expect it again later tonight.
I know, I know. Everybody anywhere else in the country sees this every year, but it’s a rarity. And damn -- I missed most of Biden’s speech.
It probably sounded a lot like this:
