Very sorry to read about your hail damage; glad you have a roofer you like (and hope your insurance will cover that).

Funny how our media ignores that the perps responsible for the significant uptick in attacks on Asians and Jooos are predominantly the, erm, “could be Obama’s son” crowd.
(Given the hatred I experienced as a kid from white supremacists due to my family’s involvement in civil rights, that shit just makes me more misanthropic with every passing week. FML.)

Teh Younger begins loading up the moving pod today. We’ve got family things planned for Saturday and Sunday, then he leaves Monday morning. It’s hard to see him move so far away, but this is something he needs to do.
Watching the video of Biden stumbling and tripping on the stairs as he tries to board his plane. Man, I bet our adversaries throughout the world are shaking in fear of an America led by this feeble old man.
I don’t know if you guys have seen this video -- what a sad ending to a man’s life, but the police office is just outstanding through the whole thing. Hope he’s OK. Of course if this had been an unarmed black man, it would have been protests, riots, and Crump talking about systemic racism as he sues the city for wrongful death.
I disagree with much of what he writes, but in this case Andrew Sullivan is dead nuts on.
“And, given the headlines, the other thing missing is a little perspective. Here’s a word cloud of the victims of hate crimes in NYC in 2020. You can see that anti-Asian hate crimes are dwarfed by those against Jews, and many other minorities. And when you hear about a 150 percent rise in one year, it’s worth noting that this means a total of 122 such incidents in a country of 330 million, of which 19 million are Asian. Even if we bring this number up to more than 3,000 incidents from unreported and far less grave cases, including “shunning”, it’s small in an aggregate sense. A 50 percent increase in San Francisco from 2019 -- 2020, for example, means the number of actual crimes went from 6 to 9.”
The sprouts are one of my favorites, had them last night, but I like them simple. I pit frozen ones in the microwave, in a bowl covered with wrap. When done I just put butter, salt, and pepper on them. I do the same with frozen chopped broccoli and cauliflower. Artichokes I boil and eat with mayonnaise. I like frozen corn in the microwave too, that is about it for me.
I do understand the difference how it is prepared can make. Growing up my mother always used canned asparagus and I thought it was always mushy. My first wife made it fresh and I had never imagined how different that would be, much better. Even one of our cats was crazy for it.
Try them in the oven, Mac. They taste completely different, like edible, as opposed to to steaming them.
On the artichoke front, I sometimes stuff them with breadcrumbs mixed with a little olive oil and some spices. Lot of work, but that’s the way my mother always did them -- I don’t think I had them with mayo or butter until I met Mrs Sven.
I remember long ago seeing artichoke hearts in a jar in the store. I was very excited…until I tasted it. Of course it was in oil and nothing like the fresh boiled hearts I loved. Started my trust issues.
Cat Filter Friday salutations, GN!

But I’m sure they like us much more, now that President Mean Tweets is out of office.
Yes. Just like all the guys playing poker really like the fish sitting next to them playing every pot.
Exactly!
We are so f**ked.
Without lube.

You knew there was another explanation beyond feebleness…

Not a huge fan of brussels sprouts but cooked them up following this recipe last night and have to say they came out really good.
