Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

It’s Accusatory Kitteh Thursday…yay!!1!

Sven --

Hope you’re reasonably comfortable this morning and are recuperating well.

What are they going to do when inflation hits?

Economics…pffffft. There’s a reason it’s called “the dismal science”, ya know…

I never knew about the “suck” adjustments on a sound board.

That actually dates back to the 1930s and was first popularized on recordings by Rudy Vallée. However, in those days, nearly all mixers in recording studios were custom one-offs so not all of them had a a “suck” knob. Those became much more common as recording consoles were largely standardized due to mass production in the early ’60s; this coincided with the “British Invasion”.

Herman’s Hermits and The Rolling Stones were two of the first bands which hugely benefited from it becoming a more standard feature. 👿

It’s the blood of Palestinian children that adds that extra spice.

Dunno why my previous comment has weird bolding and spacing.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa!

I appreciate the explanation of the ‘suck’ knob, Fatwa. It sure does explain some things!

Sven -- hope your feeling better this morning and were able to sleep.

It relates to the Far Side cartoon Fatwa posted yesterday, not our current VP.

Good morning, Fatwa, and Paddy, and happy day, GN!

Thanks, guys. I thought I was feeling better yesterday up until about 8:00 last night when I became truly miserable. Difficult night, but this morning I am functional. More or less. Kind of.

Cool thread pic, Mac.

Looking at Joe’s speech again, he makes this statement: “And by the way, while you are thinking about sending things to my desk, let’s raise the minimum wage to $15. No one—
No one working 40 hours a week should live below the poverty line.”

Fifteen dollars an hour works out to $600 a week, or $31,200 annual. According to HHS, the poverty “line” for an American individual in 2020 was $12,760. That would be $6.13/hour.

Seems to me that a federal minimum wage of $7.50 would more than do the trick.

You’d have to have six persons in your household before a full time, $15/hr job would put you below the poverty line. A single mom with two kids making $10.56/hour would be above the poverty line. Maybe, if we weren’t importing hordes of unskilled workers, entry level wages would rise.

Afternoon GN. Once again on TOR. Teh Thread pics don’t show because I’m using a more rigorous version of TOR that doesn’t allow insecure items. Just experimenting.

Perhaps I should turn the suck knob up to 11. Would it make me suck more or less?

Glad you got your dental stuff done, Sven. I’ve decided to keep my dental appointment schedule from now on. I got back from the dentist on Monday also. Just a cleaning and fluoride and xrays from a new dentist. I like him much better. Not part of the Middle Eastern scam culture. I know I’m generalizing but I have had doctors and dentists from the middle east that were not this way at all. To generalize further: Adults should not act like children. It’s ridiculous.

Hmm.. The wheel came back up normal, after about an hour.
