Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

It’s “Curtains Kitteh” Thursday!

Mr. O’ --

Your family -- and Cindi’s -- remain in our thoughts.

Sudden death of a loved one is so shocking and surreal.

I feel certain you all have a lot of wonderful memories of Cindi; may they be a comfort -- and joy -- even as you grieve.

==========================

“At the time, it was scarier to be associated with Trump and to become a tool for racists, so people didn’t want to publicly call for an investigation into lab origins,” she said.

Party. Of. Fookin’. Science. Amirite?

Sven --

Hope you’re getting the upper hand on teh roaches.

==========================

More JimCo carp today. We discovered some hidden construction defects on one of the big HOA jobs we did last year. The Board at that time agreed it was precisely that and wasn’t on JimCo. The current Board -- and several yammerhead homeowners -- think otherwise.

They’ve been engaging in all sorts of douchebaggery, as “someone must pay!!1!” (That “someone” is probably the HOA, as they own the damned buildings.)

Their latest cunning maneuver is to make a claim against our Surety Bond…which doesn’t even apply to this situation. But the current Treasurer -- who appears to be an LAUSD English teacher -- appears not to understand how such things work. (Despite being told multiple times by the claims adjuster in plain language how they do work.)

Unsurprisingly, the man also seems to have trouble writing coherent English; one can almost “see” the incoherent, furious sputtering as he types his enraged oh-so-clever (and oh-so-wrong) “arguments”.

JFC.

Good morning, Fatwa. Happy Thursday, GN! Our heat wave continues, but no fires or power outages.

Fatwa: just curious, but how many of your jobs run without incident? Is the current HOA troubles a one-off or is that typical of most jobs or just ones involving HOAs?

Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!

Fatwa -- thank you for your kind words.

In re your latest HOA troubles: I’m sure that English teacher is so used to interpreting what is written and finding nuance and hidden meaning that he no longer understands the language itself.

Sven -- thanks for the link. As you said, he nailed it. I suspect it will be Option 1.

It’s interesting, but not surprising, that no one in the MSM appears to be calling Biden out on this from yesterday: “President Joe Biden mischaracterized the death of Brian Sicknick on Wednesday, contradicting the medical examiner’s report by claiming the U.S. Capitol Police officer was killed by “criminals” who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.”

https://news.yahoo.com/biden-claims-jan-6-rioters-161300824.html

It’s also odd how the left at home here in America, can paint us as a systemically flawed and racist nation with police and bigots hunting down and killing blacks on a daily basis, while at the same time claiming any moral authority over other nations. I would say you can’t have it both ways, but that’s never stopped them before.

Drive-by:

Paddy --

You are most welcome; you’re family.

Sven --

Most large jobs have a few speed bumps which are generally pretty easy to resolve. Which is what we thought about the current situation, as the Board at that time understood we “discovered” a 40-year-old construction defect and did not try to pin it on us.

In fact, we worked with them in a manner they seemed to find satisfactory and made sure we mitigated any subsequent problems caused by the defect at a very fair cost. That Board was happy with us.

Unfortunately, the current Board -- and four homeowners -- are greedy assholes.

I think the present Board is pissed-off because they asked JimCo to do something which we thought was morally and legally wrong and we told them to cram it.

Thus, they’re now being vengeful pricks. (Scumbags often take umbrage when they’re called-out for being bags of scum.)

If CA’s legal (not “justice”) system weren’t so hosed, this wouldn’t be a big deal. And maybe, in the end, it won’t be…but it’s a crap shoot.

As well as a ginormous time and energy suck; those assholes ought to be exceedingly glad I live at the other end of the continent. 👿

“Domestic violent extremists” seems to be the rage this year along with Biden’s efforts to stop them. I keep hearing phrases like “the most lethal domestic terrorist threat we face today” bandied about. What they never do though is show the numbers: how big of a threat is it? From the way they talk, you’d think the KKK is out there killing a black teenager every day. And if aint the KKK, it’s the Oath Keepers, Threepers, or some other white militia group. So I began digging into some numbers from the FBI-DHS Strategic Intelligence Assessment and Data Domestic Terrorism report of May, 2021. I wont bore you, or myself, with their assessment methodology, analysis, or recommendations, just give you the numbers.

The whole report is here: https://www.dni.gov/files/NCTC/documents/news_documents/ndaa-domestic-terrorism-strategic-report-051421.pdf

First, some acronyms, cuz like every other organization, the govt loves their jargon.

DVE: Domestic Violent Extremists
RMVE: Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremists
AGAAVE: AntiGovt or Anti-Authority Violent Extremists
MVE: Militia Violent Extremists
SCVE: Sovereign Citizen Violent Extremists

This report is based on three year’s of incidents: 2017-2019. Taken at face value that what they say is true and the motive behind these killings was some type of racial or ideological reason. The following are direct quotes from the report.

In 2017, DVEs conducted five lethal attacks using bladed weapons, firearms, and a vehicular ramming that resulted in the deaths of eight individuals. Of those lethal incidents, RMVEs were responsible for four attacks resulting in seven deaths, and MVEs, a subset of the AGAAVE threat category, conducted one attack resulting in one death. Of the four attacks conducted by RMVEs, RMVEs espousing the superiority of the white race conducted two attacks resulting in two deaths, and RMVEs who used racism or injustice in American society to justify their use of violence conducted the other two attacks resulting in five deaths. By my count, that’s 8 killed.

In 2018, DVE lone offenders conducted six lethal attacks using bladed weapons, firearms, and violent assaults that resulted in the deaths of 17 individuals. Of those lethal incidents, RMVEs advocating for the superiority of the white race were responsible for five attacks resulting in 16 deaths, and an SCVE, a subset of the AGAAVE threat category, was responsible for one attack resulting in one death. So 17 more.

The year 2019 represented the most lethal year for DVE attacks since 1995, with five separate DVE attacks resulting in 32 deaths, 24 of which occurred during attacks conducted by RMVEs advocating for the superiority of the white race. OK, 32 more.

It’s important to note that these aren’t just examples of lethal DVE incidents -- these are ALL the lethal DVE incidents in those years according to the FBI-DHS. Even accepting their categorization of motive, that’s 57 DVE killings over three years. Less than what goes on in Chicago in any given month.

Is it trending upwards? Based on their numbers, definitely yes. You could say the number of lethal DVE killings is doubling every year and I’m sure someone has said that. Is it the problem it’s been made out to be? No.

Lying with statistics. If you read through any newspaper article with data, the data is often presented in different ways -- for this point it’s a percent, for that point it’s a number, for some other point it’s a percentage increase. Never will you find all the data presented in the same format. It’s always manipulated to express a desired result.

It’s all bullshit designed to further divide our country into warring tribes and to further target us Deplorables…and to get money for organizations and govt agencies. Here’s another one: https://www.adl.org/murder-and-extremism-2020

The ADL is as bad as the govt. They apparently count their killings and motives differently than the govt, and they get cited a lot as well by pundits, but even their latest report contradicts the FBI-NHS conclusions of impending doom from those white supremacists:

“In 2020, domestic extremists killed at least 17 people in the United States, in 15 separate incidents. This represents a significant decrease from the 45 extremist-related murders documented in 2019 and the 54 murders of 2018; in fact, it is the lowest yearly total in ADL statistics since 2004, which saw only 14 extremist-related murders.”

Seventeen killed last year -- that’s less than an average week in Chicago, but we are supposed to get all worked up over this nonexistent threat that the media, those watchdogs of democracy, refuse to really investigate. It’s absurd.

Scroll down to their Incident section: https://www.adl.org/murder-and-extremism-2020#the-incidents
For the most part, these aren’t killings carried out in the name of any ideology, but straight criminal acts carried out by people that have that ideology -- that makes a difference. For example:

Witnesses claimed that Petrie-Blanchard shot Hallett because she had come to believe he was colluding with the government to keep her from her children.

Jerry David Thompson, a sovereign citizen, allegedly attacked and killed his landlord with a samurai sword following a dispute over rent.

Thomas “Krazy” Curry, a white supremacist who was also part of the outlaw biker subculture, shot and killed three people associated with an outlaw biker gang.

And so it goes.
