Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Happy “Cold Paws -- Warm Heart” Wednesday, GN!

…fortunately my insurance company will take care of this.

Glad to see that; sorry you have to deal with a sue-happy scumbag. Hope the insurance company lawbaw (or grrrl) is highly competent.

BTW, thanks for always adding the traditional toast to teh M.O. thread.

Sven --

Some -- mostly musician -- friends and I used to mock Mrs. Reagan’s campaign by uttering “just say ‘blow'” (ref. Peruvian marching powder). None of us actually liked that stuff, as we’d all seen plenty of idiots insufflate small fortunes but also thought weed being a Schedule 1 substance was moronic.

Just checked my FedEx tracking number; it appears that Mr. Subwoofer (and a spare wall wart power supply I neglected to order for my new mixer / direct box) will arrive at CasaK sometime today.

Driveby in the morning on the way to bed.

Interesting forklift disaster on Monday.

The forklift runs out of (propane) gas at the very moment the tines are in the SIDE of the delivery truck with a palette in the air!!!

We would never have been able to push the forklift back by hand in that condition, because the ramp was slightly uphill, and the lift weighs thousands of pounds due the the counterweight on the front of the lift.

fortunately, I found another tank of propane there that had a couple of gallons in it that I could swap out.

So this afternoon, I went in and filled both tanks so this wouldn’t happen again. The boss told me we had an account with Ace hardware, but I had a sneaking suspicion that I wouldn’t be on the list, so I took the credit card that we use to fill the trucks and other vehicles with me which… of course I ended up using because I was right and I wasn’t on the list for the company account.

On my way to bed now. Night night.

Happy Warm Paws Wednesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, dv8 (and Harper!), and Sven!

dv8 -- that could have been quite the situation if you hadn’t found some more propane. You would think someone would be assigned to filling the empty tank each time you have to swap tanks.

Fatwa -- the continued inclusion of marijuana on Schedule 1, despite all evidence to the contrary, demonstrates how much our drug policy is driven by fear over facts (or a desire for control). Glad your sub-woofer is soon to arrive.

I texted with Teh Younger last night and again this morning. Elsa passed through his area without any issues. He says you can’t even tell a hurricane went through.

That’s some good news.

Drive-by:

Hi, dv8 (and Harper!!1!), Sven and Paddy!

dv8 --

Bummer about running out of propane for teh forklift; glad you had a spare tank with a few gallons left so it could be made less precarious instead of leaving it where it was.

Also wise of you to take the credit card with you “just in case”.

Paddy --

Didn’t know Teh Younger was in Elsa’s path; very glad to read it was an uneventful event for his area. 🙂

============================

Subwoofer arrived a while ago; good design / small form factor makes it easy to move despite weighing 43 lbs. Especially appreciate the well-designed -- and placed -- recessed handles. (I suspect I won’t be using the sub all the time, but am very glad to have it. And with 500 watts, I’ll have vastly more headroom than I’ll ever need on the low end.)

Looking forward to hooking it up and “seein’ what that baby can do” along with the new full-range amp. I’ve got some pretty gnarly bass synth sounds to test it with.

Alas, JimCo duties come first. 🙁

Replace the guitar with a keyboard and this just might be Fatwa tryin’ out his new rig.

So very wrong in so many ways, Mr. O’…harrumph!

Added in the sub and powered everything up to make sure stuff worked as expected. No surprises, which is always nice. The crossover / high-pass in the sub seems to work pretty smoothly with the full-range box, which makes me happy on a number of counts. (Especially as the full-range unit propagates sound in a very different manner than any other amps on the market, which will take some getting used to.)

also: I found the tank on another piece of equipment that we don’t use anymore. I’m not sure what we would have done otherwise. The two vehicles would have been stuck together. I guess we could have called a tow service or something. Or maybe with a few more guys we could have pushed the forklift out.

It’s also possible I could have put the load back down in the truck. In retrospect, I think you can move the hydraulics in the direction of entropy without the engine on. Because I’ve noticed I can ground the forks after the lift’s turned off if I forget to.

Just FYI, it’s not alt tech. It’s just Bing with a privacy wrapper, but Bing generally doesn’t suppress searches like google, partly because it is less sophisticated….

The more you know…….

Bummer -- Game 5, Stanley Cup, Tampa Bay over Montreal three games to one, Game 5 on right now, third period, and the cable is down. TB up 1-0.

And that was the final score. Hard to believe that Tampa Bay would end up a hockey powerhouse.
