Jim forwarded me an email late last night with the latest round of correspondence between the Hell’s Half-Acre HOA’s Treasurer and the claims adjuster for our bonding company.
Mr. Treasurer appears to be an L.A. Unified School District English teacher (who allegedly has a Master’s in English from Cal State Northridge…oooh!). Once again, he seems to have failed in providing all of the info Mr. Adjuster has requested at least four tines.
So now Mr. Treasurer -- who has clearly been cutting-and-pasting boilerplate language from somewhere without correcting tenses, proofreading, etc. -- is bitching that Mr. Adjuster is dragging his feet and has decided to make vague legal threats against the bonding company.
Mr. Adjuster’s response was to again remind this moron he needs to provide the required documentation in order to move this whole charade forward. Mr. A also helpfully provided the contact info for filing a complaint with the CA Department of Insurance, which I thought was a nice “GFY” touch.
I should point out that Mr. Treasurer has been repeatedly told he’s barking up the wrong tree in pursuing this matter with the bonding company. I’m starting to wonder if the HOA has already been told by attorneys and/or insurers they’ve got no cause of action against JimCo’s liability carrier. Because this is all starting to reek of desperation.
I think the HOA is likely to piss away many thousands of dollars to no gain, as they clearly have a construction defect for which the HOA is responsible. The appear to firmly believe that “someone must pay”, without comprehending that they are the “someone”.
“The median home sales price in the San Fernando Valley last month topped $955,000, according to the Southland Regional Association of Realtors. That number is nearly 29% higher than June 2020, marking a fourth consecutive month above $900,000.”
Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8 (and Harper!), Fatwa, Mac, and Sven!
Mac -- I love the thread pic and yes, I can see Sven doing that.
Fatwa -- I’m glad the adjuster for your bonding company is holding firm. I hope the HOA board gets it good and hard from the residents when they find out how much money they’ve pissed away on what should be a losing cause.
A friend of mine has been raving about this book: The Kindergarden of Eden -- How the Modern Liberal Thinks -- by Evan Sayet. He even dropped me a copy yesterday.
I’ve never heard of Sayet, haven’t started it yet -- thankfully it’s short like 120 pages and large font. I did watch a couple of videos -- he’s worth checking out:
There’s something that’s tickling me here and some things that I’ve concluded.
The modern American, as seen through the lens of the media, entertainment, and politics, hates to be a winner. Something winning means something else loses and that appears to be unacceptable.
The goal of the modern day leftist is not to have winners or losers, but to have everyone existing at what I think of as a C- existence.
What’s tickling the back of my mind is the Greek argument about the nature of reality. As I recall, Plato/Socrates argue that objective reality exists, while their philosophical opponents-the Sophists-argue that all things are relative. That seems applicable to modern day America where “truth” is replaced by “my truth.” Western civilization is based on Plato winning the day via objective reality, but are we today just fighting an old battle about the nature of reality?
As Rabbit would say: must think on this.
Where this gets back to is my confusion as to the “why” of things. I can see what govt is doing, but I can’t understand the motivation of the left.
Wow that monday thread pic!
I’m putting this post in early again. Hopefully I’m rested today.
Fatwa: We do have our share of Dems in our sleepy little town, so I assume we’re working on it.
Happy “Awww…” Thursday, GN!
G’day, dv8 (and Harper!!1!)!
Aha…the ol’ “Jooish penicillin”. 🙂
Teh yay! Hope that continues, dv8.

FFS.
Let us hope the California legal system does not screw this up.
Good morning, Fatwa, and Dv8.
If the guy in the thread pic keeps setting his alarm 30 minutes earlier every day, wouldn’t he eventually be going backwards in time?
I think C.S. Lewis wrote a whole book about HOAs -- it was called The Screwtape Letters.
The guy in the thread pick shows not all super heroes wear capes. I could see Sven doing this (but not admitting it).
Cats. Apparently someone has to love them, but there’s never an explanation as to why.
Tex couldn’t take in the cats and coons so some hero had to step up. My respects!
The insanity that is LA’s San Fernando Valley.

I saw some of his videos a long time back. I was quite impressed.
Love it! Thanks!

Made me think of the opening scene in the movie Patton, about winners and losers.
Los Angeles County edging back towards lockdown -- indoor mask mandate again starting this weekend regardless of vaccination status.
FollowIgnore the science.Well, I was considering watching the upcoming season. Now, naw.
