This is me. Still up.

Harper and I watched this movie. German. Strangely the audio was in German with subtitles, but the credits were in English. Strange choice.

You can watch it for free (with commercials) on TUBI, among other places.

“Therapy for a Vampire”

https://tubitv.com/movies/559070/therapy-for-a-vampire?start=true

Sigmund Freud and vampires and artists and models. Pretty funny.

Vienna, 1932. A depressed vampire who finds himself trapped in an endless marriage with his wife of 500 years seeks therapy from Sigmund Freud.

It’s kind of interestingly filmed; it looks like the 1930s but colorized. Subtle but well done special effects. Good Comedic timing.

Also. I watched the President’s 911 video. (Trump, of course, not the asterisk President) It was a fitting tribute.

Good morning, Dv8 -- thanks for the film recommendation -- I’ll check it out.

This should be a reflective and reverent Saturday, but to be honest, I’m not feeling it this year. Part of that is due to the POS Oval Office occupant; another part of it is America’s disastrous ending to our Afghanistan adventure. You can’t point to the heroism and sacrifices that occurred twenty years ago on one hand, while on the other Americans are still stuck in Afghanistan because we left them behind. “Never forget” rings more than a little hollow.

I recognize the horror of what happened in New York and DC, but what I see this morning is another choreographed look at at another American defeat. The one victory that day occurred in Shanksville, but Flight 93 always seems to be an afterthought.

I’m not pleased with myself for feeling the way I do, but so it goes.

I don’t blame you for being a bit jaded and/or disheartened.

A reflective and somber Saturday, Gerbil Nation.
Good morning, dv8 (and Harper!), and Sven.

Sven -- I understand your feelings. Any 9/11 tribute today would seem pre-packaged and insincere without acknowledging the lies and failings of persons across multiple administrations in regards to Afghanistan. For 20 years military command has told us we were “on the brink of a break-through”, knowing it was a lie. Joey choo-choo’s disastrous retreat just makes it all the worse.

Maybe I’ll make dv8 (and Harper’s) scones today and save them for tomorrow morning.

If you make them with plain flour and sugar, let me know how they come out, I haven’t tried the non protein variety in a few iterations.

I guess I’m going to try sleeping a bit now, I’ve stayed up all night, I should be good for Church tomorrow, which is good because they need someone to set up a zoom meeting.

As much as i have grown to despise Neil Young, he did a decent job with this song:

The best thing I’ve read today.

“We are not perfect, we can’t be, but no nation, no people have ever come so far toward perfection, and there is much yet to do. Our political “leaders” call us racist, but America is the least racist, most free and equal nation ever conceived and established.  Will we honor the sacrifice of so many and continue our quest for liberty, equality and justice for all, or will we fall into the hatred and tyranny that has engulfed so much of the rest of the world, of mankind? Will we once again embrace American constitutionalism, or fall into the all-consuming darkness of socialism and communism, the ideologies that have murdered hundreds of millions, enslaved more, the ideologies that have filled mass graves still to be discovered in the countries that suffered, died and are dying under their depredations?”

Good afternoon/evening, Harper!
Very nice to see you this evening.

Thank you for posting your classic cream scones recipe. I tried it out this afternoon, but will wait until tomorrow morning to try them. I didn’t add bugs, but I did add some chopped dried orange flavored cranberries that I picked up at Trader Joe’s. I made one change and one huge mistake, so we’ll see how they are. The dough was delicious.
