Internet still down. This must be a big outage, because the internet on my phone is a bit sluggish which means Verizon is being hit pretty hard as a backup by a lot of people.
I’ve still been able to watch videos and such and generally do stuff online, but it’s a bit slow at time.
Just chatted with Suddenlink tech. No remote fixes worked. They can’t come until Tuesday.
So… we’re stuck with crappy Verizon internet until then. Just Cell tethering. Which yesterday wasn’t working that well, but today is working much better for some reason.
That’s why I find it hard to believe that there isn’t an outage, because the Verizon was being a bit sluggish which would suggest that it was overtaxed due to the Suddenlink outage. But evidently there is no outage. Just as before. about a year ago, maybe?
nothing working. At least we have cell, so that’s good.
Happy Caturday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8 (and Haper!), and Fatwa!
dv8 -- bummer about your internet. Have you tried calling Al Gore? I’m hoping that competition improves in that arena as right now our choices are Company A with a history of poor customer service or Company B with a history of poor customer service. Only we can’t go with Company B, because the infrastructure (read phone lines) in my neighborhood is so poor.
Fatwa -- I hope you get a break from all these time suckage issues soon.
Hello, Paddy. Things are OK. I had my first decent night’s sleep in over a month last night and my head is clearer today than it has been in a while. I had a doctor’s appt last Thursday and as I got on the 101 freeway, I shifted out of third gear and completely forgot what I was supposed to do next. For a few seconds, I literally had no clue as to how to shift into 4th or even the concept that I had to shift into 4th to keep going. Luckily no trafficas maybe muscle memory took over, but disconcerting.
Small fire east of us, but they knocked it down quick -- no wind to speak of. How are things with you?
Glad you got some sleep. Rather scary story about your memory lapse. I think I’ve had that happen a few times over the years, but nothing quite so drastic as yours. I hope it doesn’t mean anything.
This has been a very busy start of the school year and I will be glad when things calm down. It’s hard to evaluate how the new Program Specialist will do when she’s still learning the systems. I don’t know if she has any supervisory experience or not, but if so, it’s too early to discern her style. I spoke with my former boss a couple of days ago and she is regretting her move. Apparently there are a lot of responsibilities they neglected to tell her about. She may be looking for a position elsewhere.
Dante. Got caught up today to Canto 5 -- now if I can just keep on track.
I’ve been reading the Longfellow translation, which is tedious. I’ve ordered another more modern translation by John Ciardi that I hope to find more accessible.

Drive-by:
Halloo, GN!
Heya, dv8 (and Harper!!1!)!
We’re still alive here in Happy Larryville; just have a lot of “stuff” going on. (Nothing horrific…mostly just enormous time-and-energy sucks. Pffft.)
Hope all o’ y’all have a good Caturday.

Hai, Sven!
How are things at the Mountain Redoubt?
