Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Happy “Gummint Needs More Of A Ligature Than A Wire” Friday, GN!

dv8 --

Hope the Big Route went extra-smoothly last night allowing you to get more sleep than anticipated so you can deal with the HVAC folks today. (And may that go well, too.)

Congratters on the new comfy-couch.

Stuff likes this makes me wonder what we, as Americans, have become.

Frankly, that all sounds kinda ghe…oh, nevermind. 👿

It’s fortunate Nassib’s not a Joooo; he’d never have survived what many kids -- including my brother and me -- had to put up with starting in elementary school.

=====================

No word back from the mediation company yesterday; resser-fresser…

Beyond the continuing battles with the HOA from hell, how is the rest of Jim’s business doing? You guys keeping busy?

Let me here commiserate some more with you about the whole, or should I say the “hole” HOA situation. Sorry you have to deal with that.

The couch is indeed very comfy. The big route went okay, but Harper surprised me big time, by going with me on the last part of the route after I came home for lunch at like 2 am, or so. That made the last bit much more enjoyable.

They’re doing some Democrat road work on the traffic circles. So I couldn’t get into the post office to deliver the bulk mail until after lunch at about 3:30 am. I normally do it right near the beginning of the Big Route.

“Democrat road work,” is Linux Rob’s term for it, it means when they get done wasting millions on it, it’s either the same or (preferably) less functional. This is similar to “Democrat Road Widening;” Wherein after they complete it, and add the median and the bike lanes and pedestrian lanes, etc. There are the same or fewer lanes for the cars. Junction 179 into Sedona was a standard two lane highway, and now is divided but still two lanes with bike lanes and sidewalks but with a 35 mile per hour speed limit instead of the 65 it used to have, and almost no place to pass anyone. it also has 8 or so traffic circles on it, it’s always backed up durring the day from the village of oak creek all the way to Downtown Sedona. So… Millions upon Millions of dollars, and negative improvement in traffic capacity.

Good morning, GN -- hello, Fatwa.

I’m still hopeful that Gruden will release the kraken and blow up the NFL, but you never know -- he could just slink off into the Hole of the Cancelled and never be heard from again. What a strange time this 21st century is.

More wind warnings today and tomorrow, but so far no advanced warning of planned power outages.

Happy Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!

The hots winds are already blowing and it looks like it’s going to hit 90°F today. My sinuses do not like this.

Sven -- I hope Gruden has learned from others that it does no good to try and appease the mob.

Hvac folks still here working.

We made them Potato Soup and brats for lunch. There’s three guys on the team. I got a good amount of sleep in the morning from when I got home. Harper had an imaging appointment in Flagstaff, but she decided to reschedule it. And she did lots of work while the guys were working. Heated up the rest of my soup for lunch. So when I woke up around noon, everything was more or less under control.

The new unit looks much more advanced compared to the one that we had before. Certainly the outside unit is much larger, and has a bigger coil and fan, though they tell me it’s bastically the same capacity.

Speaking of Savage, I’m still into my project of listening to all his past podcasts. I’m catching up to the present time, but still not there, I’m maybe a few months or so back the from the present time. Every two weeks or so I indulge in the recent ones, but mostly at work I let the old ones play in chronological order.

And yeah. Still on TOR.

I’m starting to really believe we are blocked on certain ISPs.

I’ve been doing some digging and It appears like there is a new class of DNS record that tehsquesk.com may not have listed that some ISPs use. My ban/shadowban check came up negative. FYI it was only a cursory one, but that indicates it’s just a misconfigured or incomplete DNS record.

That makes me think that if I run my own DNS it would probably fix this for me, at least.

Heater working. A/C not working. Either misconfigured thermostat or actually not working. I can’t tell.

No It didn’t trip. I remember the guy shut it off in order to perform a test and clearly forgot to turn it on. Because when we did the heater burnoff, everyone was rather alarmed as all the smoke detectors went off and we were dealing with that.

So I’m betting everyone is fine.

I didn’t think to check the breaker because I really didn’t understand that the attic unit and the condenser are actually on separate circuits. Which makes sense now that I think about it. The only thing that actually needs 220v is the condenser outside.in a split unit like that.

The new A/C portion of the HVAC unit is extremely quiet compared to the Old one (which is from the mid 90s. like everything else in the house (if it hasn’t been replaced yet)

We still haven’t replaced the microwave from the same period, although I do want to. a few months ago, I bought a countertop microwave from Walmart for $50 bucks.

I left a message for the HVAC people telling them it was a false alarm.

I also have a room unit to install in the bedroom but I haven’t done it yet. A friend of mine is going to come over and help me hoist it up there. That might also help with the bill as we won’t have to keep the whole house as cold as the bedroom.

it’s mostly about having a backup because Harper really needs it to be very cold so she can solve the unified field theory, but then I realized it would be nice to have the rest of the house not so cold when we/she are/is sleeping.

In our case, we have this little window in the bedroom which is always covered up by a picture anyway.

The bedroom has a giant window, the size of an arcadia door but not on the floor level, just a huge window, and this other little window for some reason, on the very same wall. I’m not sure why they even included the little window, but maybe because these townhouses have a limited natural light issues due the common walls.

Anyway, it’s the perfect spot for a room air conditioner.
