Happy Monday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning/night dv8! (and Harper!), Fatwa, and Sven!

At work we have these files that need to be uploaded to a state database of students -- a database that tracks information on each student from the first day of enrollment to graduation from high school. I’m uploading files that track information regarding students in special education. It’s suggested that these files be uploaded weekly. The process goes something like this: login to special education database and state database; generate report (the report comes in four parts, and each part has two parts -- 8 total files), click on first part to submit file to state; file status will change from Not Submitted to In Queue to In Process to File Received to Post Requested to Posted. You have to click on a link to refresh the status and you’ll periodically get booted out of the state database and have to login again. Oh, and it can take up to 24 hours for this process to complete. And that’s just for 1 part of 8. Oh, and did I mention that if there are any errors in the file, it will stop between In Process and File Received and let you download the error report? You then have to fix the errors in the file (which can be difficult to track down), then start all over again. The errors may be because a previous school made an error and your data doesn’t match the erroneous data they submitted to the state. I started one of these files last Tuesday and I’m 25% complete.

Heh -- a very efficient process. What’s this information used for?

Think of it like census data. The state and federal governments can run any number of reports on it, and probably do.

Hey, Sven and Paddy!

Mr. O’F --

That database sounds like a nightmare of a kluge of a clusterfark…IOW, good enough for gummint work. Very sorry you’ve got to deal with that on top of your other duties.

There’s a rally this afternoon locally put on by America’s newly minted domestic terrorists. Going to run out in a bit and see what they have to say, how many show up, and altho I have no dog in this particualr fight, see if there’s anything I can do to help.

I wonder what the general purpose is?

It was part of the keep your kids out of school day -- no mandatory vaccinations for school children.

What our domestic terrorists look like

Maybe 120 or so people including kids. Couple of speakers and then they were doing a car parade to the schoolboard HQ. Lot of American flags; one let’s go brandon chant. I talked to a few people there -- some were more than a bit angry not just with the situation but with the speakers offering up cliches and platitudes and no solutions. One TV crew -- Telemundo.

None of them were anti-vax, just anti-vax when it comes to their children and being forced to do so.

I think people are getting tired of “vote harder” as a solution.
