Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Lowered Expectations Thursday greetin’s, GN!

Just realized the Arec Barwin shooting seems to have completely disappeared from the news cycle. But hey…Henry Ruggs, Kyle Rittenhouse and the VA state gummint’s been taken-over by white supremacists.

Are you not outraged?!?

Every time I think our media / pundit class couldn’t possibly sink any lower, they manage to amaze and delight me.

Sven --

Cheers for your Rittenhouse trial updates yesterday; I don’t know what the prosecution’s “battle plan” might be but annoying the judge does not seem “full of win!” to me.

OTOH, I’m merely an unsophisticated flyover rube; guess I should just wait for my betters to tell me what to think.

Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa!

I have to admit, Team Joe Blow has lowered my expectations in a whole raft of areas. It’s hard to believe how much they’ve been lowered in such a short amount of time.

Good morning, Fatwa, and Paddy -- Happy Friday Eve, GN!

Regarding RIttenhouse, no idea how this one is going to turn out. I think there’s plenty of reasonable doubt from what I’ve seen so far to return a not guilty verdict, but after the Chauvin verdict, I don’t know. If I had to guess, this one comes back as a hung jury.

Regarding their wide receiver, glad to see that Raider fans have moved on from “what a tragedy” to “hope he rots in hell.”

I guess there is hope for the average Raider fan.

The Biden vaccination mandate has been published. The 3-page fact sheet contains this unexpected note:

“Employees of covered employers not subject to the requirements. The ETS does not apply to employees who do not report to a workplace where other individuals such as coworkers or
customers are present, employees while they are working from home, or employees who
work exclusively outdoors.”

If I’m reading that correctly, since I work remote and will continue to do so, I’m not affected by it.

Supposedly there’s an “emergency” necessitating this order, and yet it isn’t in effect for another two months. They keep using that word, but I don’t think they understand what it means.

That’s some good news, regarding the exemption.

The Kyle Rittenhouse trial ended for the day. I’m at a complete loss as to what the state’s strategy for conviction is. So far, they’ve shown a bunch of videos showing the shootings, Rittenhouse before the shootings helping out all manner of people and and acting in control, and the chaotic riot scenes that occurred that night. The witnesses that they’ve called were mostly on scene that night -- bystanders, participants, or reporters -- and for the most part they’ve confirmed that Rittenhouse was justified in the first shooting and that the guy he shot, Joseph Rosenbaum, was an aggressive threatening a-hole who followed Rittenhouse and attempted to take his rifle.

It’s weird.

AoS has a lengthy post on the trial today, but this brief snippet gives you an idea of how well the prosecution’s witnesses are doing for the state’s case.

BTW, Rosenbaum, the first one killed, was a convicted pedophile and had been in and out of mental institutions. Does that justify his killing? No, but it does give credence to accounts of his erratic and violent behavior that night.

Looks like self defense to me. I also saw the new video which seems to back that up.
