Morning! Managed to do the Big Route, Big Mail, extravaganza!!!! in only one go. I got very lucky with the 40 year old machine.

Pushing its speed to the limit to compensate for all the misfires, I managed to get done with it by midnight and then got started on the Route at a reasonable hour. So I just got home. All is quiet.

I love the thread pic!! That brings back memories of when I lived in a studio apartment and made my own tasteless bean burritos. I’d freeze a bunch of them and take one out for lunch. I was a cabbie back then working 12 hour shifts. By the time It was time for lunch they were thawed out enough to eat… cold. I’d choke one down and then after a couple of hours, I’d go to Whataburger and get a Tripple Cheeze Bacon Tomato and Mayo burger. They were so good, I still crave them now, but the closest one is 100 miles away.

Friday Teh Yay™, Wheelizens!

Hi, dv8!

Not being a car guy, I’d never heard of the Youabian Puma.

It was not well-received when it debuted some years ago:

I love cars that have a very specific audience in mind. And the Youabian Puma certainly has that: wealthy men who are sexually aroused by the idea of crawling inside a whale carcass on a truck trailer. For those of you who fit that description, this is a fantastic time to be alive.

The Puma is on display here at the LA Auto Show, and if you’re a budding anthropologist, you should set up a hidden spot by the car to catalog “What the fuck?” expressions and mannerisms in people of all creeds and cultures. You can’t walk by this monster without doing a double-take, mostly because the scale of the thing is so far beyond what you’ve grown to expect by the idea of “car.”

Hello, Fatwa, and Dv8 -- good morning and happy Friday, GN.

The Puma struck me as a blue batmobile. I didn’t get to see it in real motion, just creeping along in traffic for a minute or so.

I saw one of these bad boys on my route a few months ago:

I watched some of the Rittenhouse case this morning -- charges and jury instructions -- no jury or evidence. Not too exciting, but seemed the judge siding more with the prosecution than the defense.

If you look at the totality of the incident, there isn’t much question that the verdict ought to be not guilty on all counts. When you start getting down to charges that nitpick split second actions, then it becomes more open to interpretation.

I’m not impressed with the lawyers on either side. The state lost this case; the defense didn’t win it. The state brought charges that they shouldn’t have brought against a defendant that shouldn’t have been charged with anything in the first place. Their personal conduct during the trial has been despicable and their motivation has been rightly questioned. On the other hand, the defense didn’t do much other than take advantage of the mistakes that the state made, with state witnesses providing much of the exculpatory evidence. And I can’t get over how they treat Kyle -- like he’s unclean or not even there. It bothers me.

In past times, the jury would just do not guilty on all counts; in today’s times they will let their own prejudices and fears enter into their deliberations. My prediction: they’ll cut the baby with a guilty on some lesser charges but also guilty on one of the major charges like attempted murder. I just don’t have confidence that the jury will do the right thing especially with the case presented by this defense team.

My other prediction? Regardless of the verdict, there won’t be any riots anywhere.
