Dv8 and I are just finishing up the big route. He’s been feeling grumpy/hopeless/maudlin about things so the night was looking even longer than usual for him. I came along to try to cheer things up. I’m not sure I succeeded but we made it through and will be heading home soon.
I’m sure you cheered him up -- always good to have company while working during those dark hours.
I’m doing OK. Had my annual physical yesterday -- was asking my doctor his opinion of the covid vaccines and mandates. He was pretty blunt that in his opinion the vaccines are a risk/benefit individual choice and that forcing vaccinations on Americans was un-American.He also said he was baffled by the CDC ignoring natural immunity.
I have an immuno-neurologist who was very straight forward with me about not getting vaccinated, especially after I had Covid early on. He’s at a large MS center and after the first year of the lockdown they started having Zoom appointments and he actually told me to get vaccinated. Even though my treatments are immuno-suppressants!! I wanted to tell him to blink twice if “they” were forcing him to say that. It also made me wonder if they were monitoring the appointments and throwing out any concerns about HIPA privacy laws. Grrr.
Dv8 told me the funniest joke about a pig. I’m going to ask him to put it on here after he’s had some sleep. Maybe we can start a tradition of Friday jokes — kind of like Ace’s Saturday night joke but not.
Happy Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Harper!, and Sven!
Is it bad that I was trying to follow the math in the thread pic?
Plaguie -- I’m glad you were able to join dv8 on The Big Route. I’m sure he appreciated it.
In re COVID vaccines -- there was an interesting interview on AoS’s ONT last night regarding what the vaccine has done to t-cells. It makes me wonder if this is about control, money, both, or something more sinister.
Rumor that the Rittenhouse jury is coming in with a verdict in the next hour.
True rumor -- verdict coming up.
NOT GUILTY all counts.
Restores some of my faith in America and Americans. Good job.
Thank you, Sven. I will stay awake for awhile longer.
Paddy, you cracked me up with your comment about trying to follow the nerdy trash panda math. You really would fit right in around here. That’s high praise, Sir.
Agreed. This shouldn’t be the last chapter in this story. The state’s prosecutors should be investigated and charged or censured as appropriate. The media, politicians, and celebrities that defamed Rittenhouse over the last year should be held accountable as well.
I went to the market during lunch. Looking at the meat section, there was a 5-rib prime rib roast -- regular price $202 but with your club discount, $165. I’ve never seen prices like this before and this is market meat, not the really good stuff from the butcher.
For the last couple of years I’ve been buying steaks and roasts from Costco. The quality is good, and so are the prices, especially for Prime graded cuts. For the last year, I’ve been shocked -- shocked! -- at the prices of things like tri-tip. What used to be $7.99/lb is now $15.99/lb. I fear the Christmas roast is going to be very expensive this year.
Had my nose buried in JimCo carp when Best Man called with the good news of the Rittenhouse verdict.
Just checked-in at Twitter; the attempts to add a racial spin to this verdict are hilarious. Many variations of “You can get away with killing white people if they’re fighting for Black lives!!1!”
Good morning!!!
That is the best thread pic EVER, Gentle Mac!
Thank you my gentle friend.
Good morning, Miss Harper. Wonderful to see you this Friday morning.
Good morning, Sven. How are you today, Sir?

That’s refreshing!!

I’ll start:
Q) Where do you find a legless turtle?
A) Exactly where you left it!
Happy Friday, Gerbil Nation!

I believe SINISTER is the key word there.
Yes, I do believe you are right, as usual.

Thank you, ma’am. I am deeply honored.
It’s amazing how much math I have lost over the
yearsdecades.WOW!!
YES! I am glad to see this. I wish this would end the careers of the people who prosecuted him.

If that were to happen, it would be flaming skulls and pudding cups (h/t AoSHQ) all around!

I went to the local meat market once, in my youth. I really didn’t fit in.

Paw-fookin’-thetic.

That may be my new drink of choice.
