Happy Black Friday, Wheelizens!

Hell…can we even say “Black Friday” anymore or is it “rayciss”?

I look forward to the annual video extravaganza of morons duking it out over door-busters all across this (formerly) great nation.

Hope all o’ y’all had a pleasant Thanksgiving; enjoy your leftovers!

We’re due at FTR’s around 3:00 for our deferred Thanksgiving meal; that’s a lovely thing for her to do, as she understands why we (again) declined to spend yesterday with some folks we don’t much enjoy.

Despite all my years on the periphery of showbiz in L.A., I’ve largely lost my knack for -- and interest in -- “feigning sincerity”. 👿

The older I get, the more I’m my Daddy’s boy. As Mom used to say, the mamaliga (Romanian cornmeal porridge) doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Probably BBL.

Too soon?

Looking up mamaliga now…

Seems simple enough. I should try it, I’ve had the Mexican version, but it seems fairly identical to the Romanian version. Although, I did encounter some variations in the recipes.

Hi, Fatwa.

No fires, no wind, still no power.

Hey, Sven!

Hope they restore your power soon.

How come SCE and PG&E ain’t gettin’ any of that sweet, sweet “infrastructure” money and using it to replace that old equipment? (Rhetorical question; a better one is: how has the state of CA let this problem get so badly out of hand for decades? Ooops, that’s also probably a rhetorical question.)

When will people learn that, by-and-large, government is an abject failure at nearly everything it does?

Well, we were planning on going to Arizona to meet up with relatives for Thanksgiving, but my job got in the way. While there, cuz my brother is still looking at AZ as his destination, we were going to look around a bit. Our neighbors who just moved to Arkansas called yesterday and they’re real happy there and want us to come visit.

Next year, Dv8, has to be the year we stop talking about this and start seriously looking.

Sounds like a good plan. I hope all is good with you and yours, despite no power.

Happy Friday after Thanksgiving, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!

Fatwa -- enjoy your slightly delayed Thanksgiving with FTR and family!

Sven -- bummer about your power situation. Instead of improving their infrastructure, SCE, PG&E, et al. invested in solar and wind -- with the blessings of the Leftist state government -- and you’re left with no power. It’s ridiculous.

Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Drive-by:

Hiya, Paddy!

…and you’re left with no power.

That seems to be the actual plan in CA (and other places).

Lather-rinse-repeat until the proles are grateful for whatever crumbs the government gives them.

Good afternoon, everyone.

Here’s wishing Fatwa annoyance free roofing jobs in the future.

And hoping Sven get’s his power back. (There’s plenty here in AZ, you’d be most welcome : )

Harper came on the Big Route with me yesterday. It was an easy day since all the misery was endured on Wednesday. We just waited until evening, and did the Big Route. And we had a lovely time.

I collapsed into bed as soon as my head hit the pillow, as they say. For some reason, I woke up refreshed at about 10:30 the next morning. So I decided to go get propane for the forklift, an activity that earns me about an hour’s worth of pay.

Once I was done with that, I decided to go to Walmart (in Cottonwood) and buy a few things. Vitamins, mostly, and a bit of this and that.

I took the opportunity to eat at McDonald’s, as Our McDonald’s is closed for renovation. I had a tripple cheesburger and for dessert, I had a fish sandwich. I know that doesn’t sound like dessert, but to me, it’s kind of a splurge. So…. I should get the app now that they’re not really doing the reciept coupons anymore. I used to get a lot of 2 for 1 deals at Micky D’s, but they seem to be phasing that out.

I bought a can of sweet potatoes, even though I probably have some, just in case I want to make a pie.

I was able to see the thread pic by copying the URL into Brave. So it was almost like getting the full Wheel experience!!

After 40 hours, we finally got our power back on. Looking on the bright side, our inconvenience prevented major wildfires that otherwise would have occurred. So to all of California -- you’re welcome. And our power bill will be less this month -- and no one came over to our darkened house, so we stopped the spread of the Chinese flu. So many good things came out of this -- I feel so blessed.

so how do you manage while your power is out? Do you have some battery power for your electronic devices, or are you using a phone to get on the wheel?

I remember back in Portland (another communist pesthole) our power went out so often that I though of getting a natural gas powered emergency generator. But I never did that.

and over time, the outages got less frequent. We never had state enforced blackouts while I was there though.

Maybe Ima go nap for a while. I really didn’t get much sleep this morning. I can’t really figure on why I’m seemingly so wide awake.
