Glad to read you finally got your power back; crikey…forty hours of no electricity due almost solely to bumbling incompetence.
I’m sort of surprised that after years of this garbage, execs from SCE and PG&E, not to mention mucky-mucks from the CA Public Utilities Commission, haven’t been dragged from their offices -- or homes -- by angry mobs and at least given a good drubbing.
They have years of inexcusable FAIL! under their collective belts re the electric grid alone and -- along with the CA State Assembly -- I would think that some CA residents would choose, as the kids like to say, “direct action” at this point.

Had a lovely time at FTRs yesterday: lots of great food and the kids have some very nice friends. It was somewhat reassuring to see that some folks from their generation support -- for lack of a better term -- fairly traditional American values as opposed to the radical left agenda. (And also to know the kids have decent peers in their lives.)

The “direct action” being taken is people packing up and getting out.
Shutting off the power during high winds/low humidity makes perfect sense from a business perspective, especially when you have a captive audience that can’t really go anywhere else for the product. This isn’t an interim/transitional solution -- this is now SOP.
I’ve been mulling over my response and actions related to this latest event. I need to put them down in writing and post here and get teh wheel’s input.

Fatwa -- I’m glad you and Miss Brenda had a lovely Thanksgiving and that FTR’s friends are of the good sort.
Sven -- I think the media is making a big deal out of the Omicron variant because people are losing their fear of COVID, and emergency powers don’t make much sense if people aren’t afraid of something.
Last night’s dinner was our “traditional” Thanksgiving frittata -- something Teh Older came up with and is wonderful. Tonight it’s another “classic” -- Thanksgiving crepes. I save the turkey sammiches for lunch.

Covid seems to have many variants -- I wonder if the number of variants over time is more indicative of a natural or man-made virus?
