Gotta spend some time today or tomorrow trying to catch-up in moar JimCo paperwork; yay!
Preening as she uses that man’s tired old body as a prop and making a buffoon out of his carcass.
Someone at AoSHQ (I believe) recently referred to our current POTUS as “Joey the Wonder Corpse”.
Too bad the Marine Corps Band can’t replace “Hail To The Chief” with “The Hearse Song”. (Much as I personally don’t much like band music, I’d certainly consider doing the arrangement myself as a gift to my fellow Americans…so long as nobody had “editorial” control.)
Hi, Fatwa -- here’s hoping the paperwork goes quickly for you today.
Some oddity at teh bestest place ever (TBPE). For corporate holidays, we’ve always had President’s Day off but not MLK Day, while at Mrs. Sven’s place they have MLK Day off but not President’s Day.
At TBPE, the 2022 corporate calendar was sent out last month showing the usual 7 holidays. Then earlier last week, during zoom calls (nothing in writing) management started saying that MLK Day might be a company holiday making next Monday a day off. This was confirmed yesterday -- Monday is a holiday -- no work. During the same meeting, mgmt said that President’s Day is still a corporate holiday, so we go from 7 holidays a year to 8.
Usually before a holiday there’s a corporate email announcing modified work and support schedules and building hours, but this time, nothing. Usually the same email will acknowledge the hoilday in some fashion. It makes me wonder if something else is up.
Happy Distinction Caturday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8 (and Harper!), Fatwa, and Sven!
Went out to dinner last night at a local sports bar that has a good selection of craft beers on tap. We’ve been going there for a long time and we’ve tasted the ups and downs of the kitchen. What used to be great pizza turned into okay pizza, which turned into just meh pizza, so we’d get other things. Last night, Mrs. Paddy wanted pizza, so we got two different kinds. I don’t know when the change occurred, but the pizza is back to great. The crust is different, the sauce is different, and it appears the kitchen staff knows what they are doing again. It was good to see them stepping up their game, especially when so many restaurants are struggling.
For some reason, I’m up and rested after a lesser amount of sleep. I’m not sure what the cause is. I went to sleep shortly after my post 6 hours ago, and I’m wide awake. Even Harper was up this morning.
One thing that was different was that the fireplace was on, the last couple of days. That causes a lot more fresh air to be pulled into the house.
Makes me wonder if we should keep a window open even in the winter.
I flipped on the news and learned that those crazy racist most lethal extremist threat in America Trump supporters are holding Jewish hostages in a Texas synagogue and demanding the releaseof their fellow 1/6 insurrectionists.
The Raiders made their first playoff appearance in years and lost to the Bengals. This is not a good Raider team -- the Bengals were clearly better -- but LV got screwed big time on a play that was whistled dead but the refs gave a touchdown to the Bengals anyways.
Tonight I continue to plod through Dante. I became lazy the last couple of weeks and fell several cantos behind, a mistake, but now I’m almost caught up to the rest of the class: Purgatorio canto 22.
What have I learned? Not much. The epic is magnificent in many places, but the takeaway? That’s a mystery yet.
One thing I’ve learned is that the seven deadly sins aren’t really deadly, like doing them will send you to hell. Rather those sinners end up in Purgatory.
It’s a complex afterlife that Dante has created and his prose is at times quite insightful and beautiful, but damn, it’s hard to get through. I’ve never spent this much effort on any piece of literature before.
Authorities are still trying to discern a precise motive for the attack. The hostage-taker was heard demanding the release of Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani neuroscientist suspected of having ties to al-Qaeda, who was convicted of trying to kill U.S. military officers while in custody in Afghanistan, one of the law enforcement officials said.
Still awake as per usual.
Good morning, Dv8 -- hope all is well and that you get some good sleep this weekend.
Snake-y Saturday greetin’s, GN!
Excellent distinction in today’s thread pic, Mac.

It’s quite odd this lack of communication.
That is odd. I hope all is well, or at least stable as far as your job is concerned.
I floated the idea that this was a management ruse designed to fire people for not showing up to work Monday -- my comment was met with silence. Heh.
Heh, indeed!
That is some useful information in today’s thread pic -- thanks, Mac.

It’s a blessing to find good pizza out here in this pizza wasteland.
Hey everyone.
So, regarding the thread pic:
It actually clarifies something real, and that’s always nice.
Plus, it’s nice to have a handy set of tests to perform so as to classify a given species.

Not sure.
My last three posts, were

6 minutes ago, and

I wonder what kind of Omen that is….
Get the Holy Water and some more crucifixes. Just to be on the safe side.
I flipped on the news and learned that those crazy racist most lethal extremist threat in America Trump supporters are holding Jewish hostages in a Texas synagogue and demanding the releaseof their fellow 1/6 insurrectionists.
Oh, wait….
The Raiders made their first playoff appearance in years and lost to the Bengals. This is not a good Raider team -- the Bengals were clearly better -- but LV got screwed big time on a play that was whistled dead but the refs gave a touchdown to the Bengals anyways.
Probably because the Bengals felt it was a touchdown. Also, the Raiders were probably culturally misappropriating their touchdown.

Purgatory is a mystery.

If you can believe the media reports, the hostage situation in Texas has come to a just end with the hostages free and the terrorist dead.
Thank the Lord that the hostages are safe.
We may never know the motive.
No, but I’m sure it ties back to 1/6 and Trump in some fashion.
That’s a given.
