Sven:

Have you considered putting a GPS unit on Jack Tatum to see where he goes?

Or conversely, you can put a note on his collar and see if someone else answers.

Just sayin’ It might be a fun project. And it might be fun to find out if he has another family. It would be like discovering you had a long lost brother and sister or step family or something.

Hi Dv8- he just won’t tolerate a collar, otherwise I’d give that a try.

awe that’s too bad. I wonder if you could hide something unobtrusive on him? like a QR code or something.

Clearly Harper and I are trying to live vicariously through your cat.

Good ideas, just not doable.

Besides rutting, fighting, and hunting, what else do tomcats do? Don’t get me wrong- I’m happy enough that he doesn’t appear to engage in at least the first two as it cuts down on likely injuries -- but what else is he up to when he disappears for days?

Well that’s the thing. We all want to know.

Thursday salutations, GN!

Hi, dv8 (and Harper!!1!)! Glad to read Harper’s treatment went well yesterday and hope you got some adequate sleep.

You’ve given Jack a good home, and I’m sure he appreciates it — as much as a cat can.

Kitteh gratitude = not sucking the breath from you in your sleep.

Continuing to hate my job due to a few despicable homeowners plus the property manager who oversees their HOAs. (If she ever asks us to bid another project -- which seems unlikely at this point -- the pricing’s gonna be sky-high.)

It’s pretty amazing that the bullshit from two jobs we completed in ’20 hasn’t ended yet. Which means the margin we made continues to shrink with every minute Jim and I have to spend dealing with Teh Stoopid.

in nearly 30 years, we’ve never had a situation remotely like this.

Feels. Like. It. Will. Never. Ever. End.

Ain’t that the truth.

Good morning, Fatwa -- I hate to say it, but would it be cheaper to throw in the towel on this one and either pay it off or do whatever repairs are needed?

Hi, Sven --

The HH-A HOA is trying -- unsuccessfully, to-date -- to extort money from JimCo to pay for original construction defects which date back to 1980. JimCo’s not responsible for them, we performed a lot of extra work to help them mitigate their issues and didn’t charge them for the additional labor and materials at the time.

When they started the extortion process in May of last year, we said “fuck them” and invoiced them for all the extra work we had done at no charge. (Which we had every right to do per the terms of our contract; we never said verbally or in writing that we wouldn’t charge them, but we were willing to let it go, ’cause Jim’s a decent guy.)

They have neither contested the validitiy of the extra charges nor paid them; they’re accruing interest at 2% per month also per our contract. Pretty sure a lawyer has told them they’re on-the-hook and I think their current tactic is that we’ll just throw-in-the-towel if they’re sufficiently shitty to us.

Not. Gonna. Happen.

They have also not sued us, as they have no case and we could countersue the shit out of them and almost certainly prevail.

Some months back, when they improperly went after our bonding company, I had to do about 40 hours of code research to find the CA code snippet which proved the place was not built to code in re the particular defect we stumbled upon.

That got the bonding company off our back, and they have -- again unsurprisingly -- continued to harass us with bullshit because certain individuals are mightily pissed-off we thwarted their cunning scheme to make JimCo pay for what the HOA should rightfully pay for.

We didn’t build the place and we don’t own it. We tried to help them out, and they’re wretchedly ungrateful pieces of human filth.

It’s unfortunate…and a big part of why SoCal contractors are increasingly unwilling to do HOA work unless there are enormous margins involved (because of carp like we’re dealing with).

Yeah, everyone loved the Jews for ages and ages. If only it hadn’t been for those pesky Zionists : )

It’s been a while since the last SCOTUS battles -- since Brandon is all in on an affirmative action choice, my money is on Michelle Obama.

I don’t think she wants it either. Most politically ambitious people think of it as a dead-end job.

that’s been floated too.

Biden would love it, because he wouldn’t have to look behind himself when he walks down a flight of stairs.

Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8 (and Harper!), Sven, Fatwa, and Mac!

My, y’all have been a chatty bunch this morning.

dv8 -- I hope you can get enough sleep before The Big Route.

Will Senate Republicans have the cojones to hold off confirming any Biden SCOTUS pick until after the November elections? And if so, will they fight to reject any far-left pick that’s put before them? History doesn’t look good in that regard.
