Scouring the intertubes so you don’t have to -- looking for things that are good to read. Here’s one about meeting up with the folks camped out in Ottawa.

Happy Friday, GN!

Hai, Sven!

Mac -- Glad to read that you and your extended family were well prepared for the foul weather and hope there are no unforeseen issues.

I’m appalled to find an image of myself as today’s thread pic; I though I’d been much more careful about locking-down info about me on the intertoobz.

My most recent periodic check of my real name on Google yielded almost no info, which is just the way I like it. Was terribly amused to read that some site I’ve never heard of had my estimated net worth at $5M; har! (When I mentioned that to LambiePieK, she accused me of hiding my Jooo money. Har!, redux.)

I continue to hate several of my JimCo clients. 😉

You should spend some of that $5mil and take care of them folks in the Valley. Just something to think about…

I keep telling dv8 that it’s precisely because of that tendency to justice that he’s not been helped on his way to his billions. Vengeance is Mine…and all that.

Happy Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven, and Fatwa!

I had to stop myself from going down the rabbit hole with Robyn Adele Anderson. Thanks for this morning’s music, Sven.

Great article on the truckers in Ottawa. I’m not surprised that the media is reporting on the situation without actually interviewing the participants.

Mac!

That was a lot of snow. We STILL haven’t had any.

Hiya, Paddy and dv8 (and Harper!!1!)!

Sven --

Thanks for posting that blog article about Ottawa. At several points while I was reading it, I found myself thinking, “this sounds a lot like normal Americans“.

Believe me…if I had that kinda dough, I’d have probably taken care of the “ring leaders” at HH-A HOA:

I’m not exactly a garden sculpture kind of a fairy but this has been on my wish list for a couple of years now. I must admit, it made me think of you, my incorrigible friend. Now I will have a kinder, gentler image in my mind.

Harper!!1!

I lurve that sculpture (although I think it could be a bit gorier).

Now I will have a kinder, gentler image in my mind.

At risk of seeming churlish, honor requires me to disclose that any accounts of my kindness and/or gentility may be greatly exaggerated. (Occasional exceptions for children and puppies, but I’m working on that.)

Hello, my fine friends!! It’s so very good to see you today. I’m going to enjoy going back over the days I’ve missed -- especially since they involved snow!

I’m not surprised to hear that Gentle Mac’s family was well prepared for the storm because I know how thoughtful he is about everything he does. It’s an honor to know the man and to try to live up to his example. He’s a reminder of the ethos I hold dear and I’m ashamed to say that I don’t tell him that often enough.

Does anyone know how Jerrie is doing? ‘Cause, you know, a day without Jerrie is like a day without a sweet guy with fruit salad on his head.

Sven, thank you for the good music and heartening article. I hope things are going well for you at Teh Bestest Place, Sir.

Paddy’O Dearie, what are you up to? Is work running smoothly yet? Does it ever run smoothly or is Firechief just one of your job titles?

And last but first, my darling dv8, thank you for working so hard and caring for me. I adore you even more than I did 44 years ago and I really adored you then.

Dearest Lady, it is wonderful to see you!
Work is going about as smoothly as it ever does. Yesterday I had no meetings scheduled and thought I’d finally be able to make a serious dent in the work that needs to be done. Of course at the end of the day I’d found that I’d spent at least half of the day doing someone else’s work, instead of mine. I wouldn’t mind it if this person was in my chain of command. Then I could mentor her in both the areas in which she is lacking, and in how to manage her department, which she isn’t doing a great job of. But that’s not the case. Oh well, such is life.

How are you? I hope all is well in your kitchen and that your pastry cutter has not been abused lately. Have you broiled any sushi lately?

I am well, thank you! There has not been any utensil abuse since we moved here to God’s country Northern Arizona.

I have found sushi to be too pricey to eat, broiled or otherwise, these days. I still stand by my guns on broiling sushi leftovers. It’s only prudent. I must acknowledge that after my origonal broiling incident, LynuxRob took me to a very fine sushi restaurant in Portland and introduced me to the delights of honest-to-goodness yummy, raw as god had made it, sushi. It was sublime. Yes. There, I said it. I loved the pretentious raw fish!

It’s funny that I’ve become such a believer in only eating what is familiar considering the varied things I ate as a child, but therein may lay the answer. I don’t have to do it now. No more being pleased to have been honored to be served the chicken’s head in my soup. No more raw yack liver to build me up because I was such a pale child. No more kelp and rancid butter balls in tea. I shudder to remember the fresh yack milk. It was pink because IT HAS BLOOD IN IT!!

It’s a shame you can’t be appointed the god-king over the district. You are what my dad called a ” teacher’s teacher”. It’s a gift.

Goodnight, my friends. It’s been wonderful to see you again. Take care of yourselves and hug your loved ones tight.

Here’s an article about the 150th anniversary of the composer, Ralph Vaughan Williams, who wrote some of my favorite music. I’m posting a version of a Fantasia that was used in a movie. The recording quality makes it well worth the effort of putting on headphones and really listening or cranking it up on a good sound system.
