Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Given it’s that time of year, are five fat foxes fed fried fish on Friday? 🙂

Sven — I hope the new tear duct plugs work for you.

Seconded.

I got nothin’ else…’cept for this (which the foxes might or might not enjoy):

Happy Fluffy Fox Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!

We got up to 99°F here yesterday. Today should be a few degrees cooler, then we should be 20° cooler tomorrow and 30° cooler on Monday (from yesterday’s high).

I got nuthin’ else.

Drive-by:

Just got back from Waddlemart.

Based on the price increases alone, I’m beyond ready to dispose of a few highly placed elected and appointed officials. Slowly. Painfully. Humiliatingly. And put it online as a stern warning to the rest of our ruling filth.

(I don’t believe they’re gonna be punished after they die; therefore, I’d prefer to do it beforehand to ensure a modicum of justice. And because f*ck them.)

I would never advocate that kind of thing…

but …

if one or more of them happened to fall into a wood chipper, it would be irresponsible of me not to laugh…

This was a pretty long shift last night through this morning. But not too god awful long. Probably about 13 hours, or thereabouts. Harper joined me on the route. That’s always fun. But the mail took a long time to complete.

This time it was not because of the machine so much as I was not feeling at all close to 100%.

The suction cups have improved the machine’s performance, but I still can’t get the light sensors to work, so the machine misfires every 7 or 8 labels unless I’m really lucky, in which case I get maybe 15 or 16 without a misfire.

But as I stated, I was not feeling quite 100% and had to keep running to the bathroom. So that cut into my time quite a bit.

But on Tuesday, whatever has been slowing me down--that was part of me, rather than mechanical was even worse, plus I was not properly rested.

I had a moment where I was actually dreaming while driving--not quite asleep, but close. or maybe closer than I realize. Fortunately, Harper was with me on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning as well, So she could help keep me awake

Which was the plan. But after I had a waking dream that a reflector in the road was a bicyclist, I decided to call it (call it quits, that is) and finish on Wednesday afternoon or evening. Just made more sense safety wise.

So on our way to the office, we got pulled over. Now, at that point, I was sure that it must have been that I was swerving or something, and I asked the officer as much. But although he thought he saw me swerve a bit in my own lane, he actually pulled us over because the runabout I drive for work has expired tags.

He was very nice about it though, and when i explained that I was heading back to the office to go home, because I was too tired, he let us go without ticketing me. He asked me how much of the route I had left, and I told him about 3 quarters of it, so I didn’t feel safe. I guess he liked that I was being sensible.

Anyway, Somehow, that new car never got into the reminder system, that all the other vehicles are in. As long as I’ve been there, all the cars always get current tags, registration documents, and insurance cards.

Anyway, I texted my boss about it, and he remedied that in the morning. All the paperwork is current now, and the tags will show up in a few days, but I had been driving the car on expired tags for about 6 months.

I feel like this is partially my fault for not checking. But they’ve always been on top of the paperwork in the other cars and trucks, so it kinda caught me by surprise….

That is the end of my story.

Except to say that they gave me a lanyard for my route keys which I thought would be useful, but which I kept forgetting to ask for. They had a few from the this year’s film festival so they gave me one of those. It actually speeds up my access to the vending machines becasue I don’t have to keep fishing the keys out of my pocket.

It’s late, (for me) but yeah, I’d better get some sleep. I’ve been home for about 4 hours or so.

Perhaps sanity is returning. A US federal jury has acquitted two men accused of plotting to kidnap Michigan’s governor and failed to reach a verdict for two other defendants.

It was Ruby Ridge all over again, minus the dead bodies.

One more thing:

On Wednesday, I made about 100-150 meatballs, put them on a cookie sheet in the freezer for an hour, and then put them in two 1 gallon freezer bags.

Not sure of the economy. 2 hours of work, save about $20 -- $30 over store-bought frozen meatballs. It’s a big mess, but after that work, they should last me for a good while, I think, at the rate I use them.
