I saw that the missing criminal that Paddy posted about the other day has been found.

Have a home inspector coming out tomorrow to take a look at our house. I want to get a baseline idea of what needs to be repaired and what would just be nice to do. My thinking is that it is unlikely that we move in the next two years, but possible, and whether we move now or later what needs to be repaired needs to be repaired -- after living here 30 years, I need an outside pair of eyes and perspective.

The other thing is that if we end up staying here two or more years, I want to enjoy those years, in this house, and for many years I’ve been more than a little bored and unhappy with our living arrangements. So whether we start fixing the place up in prep for a move or just to be happier, things have to get done. I know the HVAC ducting needs to be replaced and that’s already scheduled for next week.

In most cases, I could do some of the repairs and remodeling, but it takes time. I’m in the position right now where time is more imporatnt than money, and I have the money, so we’ll dump some significant $ into the house this year -- that’s the plan anyways.

Happy Monday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8 (and Harper!), and Sven!

As Sven said, the young murderer, who could have been held until he was 25, but instead was moved to a half-way house from which he escaped (gee, those ankle bracelets sure work great!), has been recaptured at a homeless encampment. At least no one else was injured along the way.

Sven -- I think you’ve got the right idea in regards to your house. Enjoy it while you are here.

A friend of mine was this close to moving to Idaho last year when they decided to pull the plug and stay in California because of home availability in the Boise area. Afterwards, he and his wife decided that if they had to stay in CA for now, then they were going to make the most of it and dropped $60K on an RV. I’m in the same mindset regarding our house especially since both me and Mrs Sven are working remote and spending more time than ever in it.

If we do sell and move, will it have been a good investment? Probably not a great one, but we ought to get a chunk of that cash back, so not a complete loss.

Good Morning, GN.

I haven’t been following the latest criminal story. I’ve been working on other things, and living life, and working, and recovering, as per usual.

Some weeks, I like the long shifts and fewer days, and some weeks, I don’t.

Ironically, If I had three long shifts instead of two, my job would essentially be full time.

There is technically room for three long shifts like that in a week. If there were a day in between each one, there would even be two(ish) days on the weekend. It’s a tough schedule though.

On those days where, for some reason, I do my inside work and then do the Big Route on the next day, it feels like a cakewalk by comparison.

Here’s a random fact:

Donald Trump has 998,173 subscribers on Telegram. Almost 1 million. Without promotion at all.

Hey Dv8-

Been listening to the new Kid Rock CD -- plenty vulgar and plenty funny, but this tune has caught me. Give it a listen.

Nice. A callback in style to the 1970s, the decade within which I grew to manhood. An old friend as allegory to the United States of America.

Maybe reminiscent of Bob Segar… or CCR, maybe? Those guys, I guess you could say, had more iconic voices, but this is a very solid offering. And it tugs at the patriotism heart strings, which I like a lot.

A little Jim Croce mixed with a little Meatloaf, with maybe some Charlie Daniels added in. A good song, of the type that you don’t hear any more.
