Paddy, looking at some of the pictures from the fire, it’s odd that some of the homes with no vegetation around them, tile roofs, and easy road access went up in flames. Like this one:
I had my annual physical. EKG normal. BP higher than normal (gee…wonder why?) Other results in the next few days.
Bummer about the SoCal fires; hope they avoid any Gerbil neighborhoods. That house in Sven’s picture is fugly, but it didn’t deserve to die. Weird a tile roof caught fire…

Good morning, Sven, dv8 (and Harper!), and Fatwa!
Regarding the homes that caught fire: embers from the flames moving up the steep hillsides entered the crawl spaces of these homes and the fires started from the inside. Most of those homes are surrounded by palm trees that also provided a source of embers. Firefighters were on the scene trying to keep other houses from burning. I saw video where houses on both sides of the street were ablaze and crews were pouring water on the homes that weren’t burning that were surrounded by homes aflame. The separation between these homes is ten feet or less.
