Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

ICWYDT, Mac. πŸ™‚

Brenda update: Yesterday was “not great”.

It was a quiet day at CasaK; we got to see some decent very local fireworks courtesy of a few neighbors and GA’s liberalized fireworks laws.

I was trying to be as inclusive as possible given the constraints of my old man’s lived experience.

Stop trying to “erase” us!!1! (I’ve decided that I currently identify as a wooly mammoth…it’s easier than shaving.)

Hope Paddy’s mailbox and Sven’s tree-trimming projects went well.

=====================

One of my Twitter mutuals had two kids in the Highland Park H.S. marching band; fortunately, they’re both safe. He said one of them was “relieved” to find out it was a random psycho rather than Jew-hate. (I’ll admit I thought about the possibility of the latter when the story first broke.)

BBL.

Good morning, GN -- and happy short week.

Fatwa -- glad your friend’s kids are OK and here’s hoping that Brenda’s status moves up to OK from not great. I’ve probably been through Highland Park -- it’s about 10 miles or so north of Oak Park -- but I don’t remember it. I see that the MSM is tying itself up in knots making the shooter a MAGA type.

Off to the ophthalmologist this morning -- don’t expect much but so it goes.

Huh. The stock market appears to be crashing again, but what can you expect in a time of war and global peril -- thanks, Brandon!

Happy short week Tuesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!

Fatwa -- I’m sorry to hear that Brenda was not doing well yesterday. I hope she (and you) have a better day, today.

Sven -- I hope the ophthalmologist has some good news for you.

Thanks, Paddy. No great news -- says he doesn’t think another cornea surgery is needed right now. On the dry eye front, I’m giving a new prescription a whirl -- Tyrvaya. It’s a nasal spray that stimulates a gland that causes you to create tears. I asked if holding a cut onion under my nose would produce the same effect and that stumped him. Also got my tear ducts replugged so my eyes hopefully stay wetter.

I dug up the old mailbox post and finally got all of the old concrete out of the hole. I am getting too old for this! If I had been smart, I would have embedded a mounting bracket into the concrete and bolted the wooden post to it. Then I’d only have to remove a few bolts to change posts. Will I do that this time? Of course not! If I remember correctly, Mrs. Paddy didn’t want “an ugly metal bracket” disturbing the appearance of the mailbox post.
