Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

It’s Disgruntled Caturday!

Thank for the well-wishes; yesterday was indeed “okay” for BK and it seems as though today will be the same.

Grateful for that.

I think Sniffy Joe is gonna be gone shortly after the (likely) rout in November; would not be surprised if Mr. Hairgel is the new veep to position him as the nominee for 2024 (as even Dems don’t have much love for Kackle-a).

I get the feeling that a growing number of Americans are starting to see we have a monoparty with two equally cruddy factions. I also think -- if that’s actually the case -- it’s gonna take a while before a critical mass of disgruntled voters is reached.

No news re HH-A mediation; I strongly suspect they’re stalling but we’re getting the “mushroom treatment”. To quote Mac, “Bah!”

Maaaaan…I’m old enough to remember when things were this cheap:

Glad things are AWACBE.

I think my mom took me to woolworths a time or two.

I also remember that I could ride my bike over to the McDonalds at 24th and Osborne in Phoenix, and order a Big Mac and a Medium Coke which, with tax, would come to $1.00 exactly.

Hi, Fatwa. That Woolworth’s menu brought back memories. There used to be one in the very early 60’s on Platt Ave between Vanowen and Victory in what was then called Canoga Park.

Hoping for a string of “Okay’s” for Brenda.

Today is Jack Tatum’s “birthday.” Six years ago today he wandered into our yard having gotten himself lost or abandoned. That’s him taking a nap still wearing his original flea collar.

Yeah, that’s him. He’s held his color over the years and still has a good coat. He was maybe 4-5 months old when he showed up. He’d obviously been well taken care of, but we couldn’t find his owner. Always wondered how he got lost.

The important thing is how he got found.

Happy Caturday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, Sven, and Mac!

Fatwa -- thanks for the BK update. I’m glad she’s put together a few “okay” days.

Sven:

I’ve grown fond of powdered bone broth. Stores well — tastes OK.

I’ve never heard of that!! Sounds interesting, I’ll look for it.

Paddy

dv8 — I hope your bone broth turns out.

I just strained it and put it in the fridge. We’ll see if I have to augment the collagen. I can already tell it doesn’t have enough fat.

When I make Ramen, If my broth is the store bought kind, I augment it with a packet of gelatin per cup and some Bacon grease, or lard or even butter. whatever I have around.

The Collagen/gelatin, helps a broth hold on to fat and gives you that lovely Tonkotsu mouth feel : )

This is the one I’ve been buying, but usually chicken. https://www.barebonesbroth.com/products/instant-bone-broth?variant=34493902815399

Amazon has it a bit cheaper.

it’s been about 3 hours since I put my broth in the fridge. So I’m not sure that’s been long enough to tell it’s collagen content.

I could also invest in a refractometer. That can detect collagen levels in liquid with some accuracy.
