I wore my “Ultra Maga” shirt on The Big Route, last night. One clerk at AM/PM who used to work at the Village Circle K, has bigtime Trump Derangement Syndrome.
I didn’t really think he’d notice the shirt, and I was moderately aware of his politics. But he did. So I thought briefly about giving him what he expected, or its opposite.
But instead, I hit him with a blastwave of neutrality which seemed to utterly confuse him, and ultimately to satisfy him. He seemed to be expecting an impassioned defense of Trump from me, or maybe a slight possibility of the opposite, but he did not at all expect what I gave him.
It was a comeback worthy of our Dear Harper. And, as I refined my response, it only got better, if I do say so myself.
Odd that the assassination attempt on Rushdie isn’t a bigger story with more coverage. I know that white supremacists are the more existential terrorist threat, but I would have thought that a renowned author being stabbed in public just might maybe warrant a little bit more attention.
Happy Inflation Reduction Caturday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8 (and Harper!), and Sven!
I think the thread-pic has clued us in to how Brandon is going to reduce inflation -- by letting the air out of the economy.
dv8 -- interesting tale. I’d love to hear how you did that.
Sven -- to report on the Rushdie story is to admit the violent nature of Islam (via fatwa) and the willingness of its adherents to commit violence in its name.
Seem to recall a lot of “liberal” support for Rushdie when the original fatwa against him was announced; their relative quiet about the awful attack the other day speaks pretty loudly, IMO.
BK update: really lousy day.
HH-A update: nada. (Will have conference call with attorney next week to see what viable options -- if any -- are available.)

It’s my thought that the “why” is that they fear an armed populace that may be able to thwart their plans to radically redefine the United States. As to why some people seek to control others, I don’t know, but it does seem to be a characteristic that some portion of the human race possesses.
Good morning everyone!

Hi, Dv8 -- that’s a bit of a cliffhanger -- more details, please.

That Fatwa (no relation) was in 1989! Wow, how time flies.

Yay!
Hi, dv8, Sven and Paddy!
I, too, am curious about dv8’s verbal jujitsu.

Reminds me of a joke: What’s green and smells like Miss Piggy? Kermit’s finger.
Good to see you back, Fatwa. Here’s hoping Brenda shifts over to “Okay” mode soon.
Not only happening in California, but I think we lead the pack in stupidity. https://californiaglobe.com/articles/california-gun-control-bill-rejuvenated-with-185-new-amendments/
It’s incredible the lengths that politicians and others seeking control will go to to keep the serfs in check.
It’s the “why” that confounds me.

When is it time to make “we” into “they?”, do you think?
