I think it’s been around 3 years I’ve been working there. I really should be working anywhere else. But it was pretty okay, espicially during the “worst” of “covid”.
One of my Church friends happened to see an ad for a related job in the local paper and told me about it. When I called, the job was filled already, but then I got hired there for something else. Anyway, I ended up doing both jobs pretty soon thereafter, and now I’m doing essentially three of the jobs.
Sorta kinda. None of them are quite what they used to me, so I still only managed about 30 hours per week.-- give or take.
Hi, dv8 (and Harper!!1!); glad The Big Route was completed early and that you’ve got your sleep thingy arranged properly.
Paddy --
Happy to read you and Mrs. O’F. had a nice time yesterday; cool that The Oldest has another job offer to consider and am confident that he’ll choose wisely.
Getting ready for the short drive to the County Taxpayer Fleecing Facility to drop-off jury duty deferment paperwork. Wonder if it’s still like a TSA checkpoint to get into the building…
BBL.

Good morning, Dv8, and Fatwa -- hope all is well, or as well as can be expected. Bracing for our week-long heat wave out here -- going to be nasty. Of course it would just be uncomfortable if this was a state that believed in infrastructure.
Happy Wednesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8 (and Harper!), Fatwa, and Sven!
dv8 -- I’m glad you’ve got your sleep schedule down. That can make a huge difference in how you feel.
Fatwa -- I’m sure by the time you read this you’ll have discovered that getting into a “public building” can be worse than an encounter with the TSA. I hope you were able to accomplish your task without too much trouble.
The forecast for today is 98F. We’ll see how that prediction holds out.
I just got home from the Gwinnett Bureaucrat Grifting Center and looked at the letter they gave me -- dated today -- which excuses me from reporting for jury duty on JULY 9, 2018.
The obese leech who took care of me apologized it was taking so long as they’ve “just upgraded their system”. What a good value that is, huh?
Got-dayum…when I started writing code in 1982, I’d have known enough to put in a date test for shit like that. Yet here we are, forty years later…
Need to calm down before I trudge back over there, else one of the donut-gobbling deputies will have to escort me somewhere.

Went back over to the Gwinnett Center for Full Employment of the Mentally Challenged; got the same young woman who assisted me earlier. Apparently Bob / Frank / Jimmy-Joe or whoever (allegedly) knows something about the “upgraded system” was off today.
I remained pleasant and polite but insistent and walked out of there with sufficient documentation -- I believe -- to cover my ass in case their dogshit “upgraded system” winds up issuing a warrant or whatever they do to jury duty scofflaws.
It’s even more annoying, given that just the other day, we were notified of a $700 / year property tax increase. Since I’m old enough to get us out from under the school millage, we need to get that sorted ASAP.
It hit 104F today. I’m sure it was much hotter at the Mountain Redoubt. I saw that about “Flexing your power” -- by not using any, including to charge the cars we’re all supposed to be driving. With auto a/c’s running full tilt, I’m sure those EVs aren’t getting very far on a charge.
So it begins. One fire burning south in Sand Diego area; another one sprang up near Lake Castaic north of us. That’s one we’ll have to keep an eye on as the normal progression is for it move south towards Santa Clarita, then skirt the SFV, and then on to us.
Back a bit early from The Big Route.
Tired but not too tired.
I think I’ve got my sleep thingy arranged properly at the current time.
Hi, Dv8 -- how long have you been doing this job and how did you find it?

Perhaps tomorrow, I’ll tell you of today’s ordeal.
Wow, it was a long day.

Oh, man, that sucks! It’s amazing how many programs don’t do simple data validation.
Drive-by:

as far as I know, until they send a certified letter to you, they can’t really issue any warrants for stuff like that.
I have always taken these summonses and dumped them right in the trash.
I keep telling myself that maybe one day, when I have some leisure time, maybe I’ll answer, but that day has not yet come.
Another drive-by:
Paddy and Sven --
Hope the expected heat wave out there won’t cause you and yours too many problems.
Just read that the CA ISO is asking people not to charge electric vehicles; AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…

And it’s only Day 1 of a 7-day heat wave.
