My G600 mouse has been failing for a while.

So I Ordered a new one from Amazon.

Fortunately, I never liked that it was the only thing in my latest setup that wasn’t black. So I was able to get the black one.

Showing both for context : )

when I bought all the stuff originally, I got everything at Fry’s Electronics. And, the white Logitech was the only color they had at the time.

Is “Fry’s” still a thing? The one in Woodland Hills closed up a few years ago.

I loved that store had an “Alice in Wonderland” theme; the Burbank location was “Alien Invasion”-themed (including a flying saucer buried halfway into the exterior wall as a canopy over the main doors and full-sized jeeps with armed soldiers inside).

Interesting. Having never been to another one, I figured they all had the same theme.

Sunday greetin’s, GN

Hey, dv8 (and Harper!!1!) and Mac!

dv8 --

Glad you were able acquire your mouse-of-choice in black.

The Fry’s near us closed down a few years ago; I can understand why they made that decision, but it still sorta sucks despite being able to use Amazon Prime and often get stuff the next day.

I remember when Fry’s was the only big box electronic retailer that carried a lot of Mac-related components. Need more RAM, an Apple specific serial cable to connect a MIDI interface or A/D -- D/A converter or -- occasionally -- a game? Fry’s gotcha covered. (Although that meant putting on pants and driving to Burbank or Woodland Hills.)

BK Update: Still good. Vacuum wound drain output within expected parameters and being duly logged. Hopefully post-op visit with surgeon this week will offer continued cheery news.

At risk of being repetitious, thank you all again for being an important part of our support network.

A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8 (and Harper!), Mac, Fatwa, and Sven!

I think Fry’s closed up shop, permanently. I remember the last couple of years at my local one were pretty grim. Entire sections of the store were dark and a lot of the merchandise had been obviously opened and returned, although it wasn’t marked as such.

We got Teh Older moved in yesterday. Hopefully he learned a few lessons about moving and will do a better job of it next time. Mrs. Paddy and I are exhausted and grateful for the extra hour of sleep. Those U-Haul trucks that you see with $19.95 per day, local, printed on them? It’s amazing how quickly that becomes $100.

Fatwa -- did you ever think you’d be the suckage monitor? I’m glad BK’s wound continues to heal properly and that her recovery is going well.

Hey, Paddy --

Glad you were able to get Teh Older relocated yesterday.

Those U-Haul trucks that you see with $19.95 per day, local, printed on them? It’s amazing how quickly that becomes $100.

Given the cost of fuel (and the “included” mileage is probably down to about 5 these days), that’s not surprising.

Having moved so many times (and being a bit OCD), I’ve never had any big snafus. Clearly labeling and logging boxes and inventorying large items is a goodness. (First time I moved to another city was from Cleveland to Chicago at 19. Driving a U-Haul in a blizzard was fun…especially unloading into a third floor walkup. Was very appreciative that one of my new neighbors volunteered to assist.)

The “included” mileage is down to zero.

As re being “the suckage monitor”, I’ve spent a lifetime listening to my own keyboard- and bass-playing, so I have lots of experience. 👿

That reminds me of the old joke where the punchline is “There’s no reason to make my job disgusting.”

Don’t know that one.

Is it related to “Coffee / tea break’s over; back on your heads”?

(A punchline used by Brit jazz/rock band If as an album title.)

It is unfortunately too vulgar to relate here -- but it does involve a medical professional and puss sucking.

Even without details, there’s an excellent chance this joke would be “Arbuckle approved”.

It’s not quite to “The Aristocrats” level, but it’s in the same ballpark.

Was watching the Raiders earlier today while doing chores. This text stolen from a Raider’s blog sums them up: “All of the familiar ghosts are back: lack of pass rush, no speed to contain middle of field, coverage sucks, offensive line can’t hold it together…..Same as it ever was, same as it ever was.”

Glad I didn’t invest more time in them.

And of course they were up early in the game, just to give you false hope.

In this case, Paddy, I’m thankful for BLM and the protests that turned me away from the NFL. And Marshawn Lynch for his refusal to stand for the National Anthem and instead sat on a bench eating a banana that turned me away from the Raiders. Now I can just laugh as Raider Nation is in full meltdown mode. Probably the guy that is laughing the hardest is Jon Gruden.

I wonder if Elon Musk is interested in buying in an NFL franchise?

Wouldn’t that be interesting? I don’t think Musk would get along with league management.
