Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

“I Can Relate To Mac’s Thread .GIF” Caturday salutations, GN!

Haven’t been following all of the Twitter revelations closely, but it seems that they’re guilty of everything they were accused of re suppression of “conservatives”…and more.

I love the smell of misplaced self-righteousness in the morning. It smells like fail. (Aside from helping to throw two elections, IMHO.)

BK update: Infusion went well yesterday; doc is very pleased with blood work and other stuff. Brenda’s hair is growing-in well, and she’s had another couple of good days (which doc expects to continue and improve).

Again, sincere thanks for all of your support for her this year; it made a profound difference.

HH-A update: Not holding my breath, but it looks like mediation on 01/05 might actually happen.

Is that 01/05 date 2023?

Happy “Don’t Boop My Nose!” Caturday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!

Fatwa -- that’s good news on both the BK and HH-A fronts! Let’s hope the good news continues in both arenas.

dv8 -- 10k followers? I wouldn’t know how to get 10! Well done!

Under the “yeah, no shit” umbrella, the reason why is no mystery -- you didn’t perform.

Reading through the list of reasons that less cargo is flowing to San Pedro, no one mentioned the impact that diesel emissions regulations have had, AB5, nor the looming requirement that drayage vehicles be all-electric in a little over a decade.

Shippers are taking advantage of new ships designed to carry containers through the Panama Canal, as well as super-haulers that make it economical to transport containers West from SE Asia, instead of East.

It was interesting that they went with the “it’s global problem/adjustment” as opposed to what you guys mentioned as well as all the other probelms that affected the port directly: labor shortages, slow processing time, not running 24/7, lack of onshore storage space, etc.

It’s never “our” problem in CA; it’s always reacting the best we can to problems that are impacting everyone and that are much bigger than ourselves.

I was working in my home office last month and there was huge bang on my window. I went out front just in time to hear another bang into the garage door and to see a flurry of wings with a stunned hawk with a smaller bird in its mouth on the ground next to my truck. I feed the birds out front and some hawks have figured out that it’s a buffet table -- it’s happened twice that I know of.

Anyhow, the hawk must have swooped down, grabbed the bird, and then crashed into my window, lost the bird in the crash, reacquired it the garage door, and then ended up on the driveway. If you look at the picture, you can the hawk’s wings and body and then the bird it caught.

Yeah, me! I’m done with as much financial planning as I can be. Have a list of questions for them and then we can see if we can actually retire at some point before we die.

Good for you, Sven! I need to sit down with someone to figure out retirement. All those years of being self-employed were great for being able to be involved in my kids’ lives, but I never made enough to contribute significantly to my retirement.
