Sure Happy It’s Thursday, GN! [h/t Mr. O’F]

Hai, Sven!

dv8 and Paddy --

Sorry you two have work-related carp to deal with and hope you can both get things sorted.

JimCo had a brief conference call yeterday with Mr. Attorney, Esq. re mediation prep. We’re all on the same page re “acceptable terms” (which we ain’t gonna get in mediation). It is expected the mediation session might last as long as thirty minutes, but that fifteen minutes is likelier. 👿

It is also expected that mediation won’t actually occur on 01/05; we anticipate some sort of last-minute weaseling.

We ought to see a draft of the mediation brief in the next few days.

Since we’re going to invoice them for the requested reinspection of their latest attempt to fabricate an alleged leak from our work, I’m thinking about adding a $4K “FAFO surcharge” (as I will have to write another detailed report / refutation) just to enrage them; we’ll see what Jim and Lawbaw think.

And yeah…I think the invoice should actually read “FAFO surcharge”. 😉

BK still asleep, but yesterday was not a bad day for her.

BBL.

Who is making money off of this? The attorneys?

For whatever reason it reminds me of my divorce. On one occasion, I drove 200 miles to attend a hearing at 9:00 in the morning -- a court date that had been set 3 months earlier. My attorney charged $150 every time he had to step into a courtroom. So we sit and wait and the Judge says come back at 11:00 -- there’s a scheduling conflict. The first $150 bill. We come back at 11:00. The Judge says come back after lunch at 1:00. The second $150 bill. We come back at 1:00. The Judge says there isn’t a courtroom available and reschedules for next month. That day cost me $450 for my attorney, a day off from work, a 400 mile round trip, and oh yeah -- half of my soon to be ex-wife’s attorney fees.

The old quip about Mary riding Joseph’s ass all the way to Bethlehem got me wondering how often Mary played the “I’m carrying the Messiah” card?

“You want me to make you dinner? Do you think I have time to do that when I’m carrying the Son of God in my belly?”

“I’m carrying the Messiah and you expected me to make reservations in Bethlehem?”

Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven, and Fatwa!

Sven -- good points regarding the ‘coon, Mary, and lawyers.

Fatwa -- glad BK is doing better. Too bad the courts can’t sanction those rat-bastards at HH-A.

A good article. I particularly like “what you outsoruce, atrophies.”

Whatever skill you outsource, it atrophies. When we outsource tasks to machines to perform, our ability to perform the task ourselves weakens. From driving to writing, automation threatens to reduce key elements of the human experience. In this post, I’ll use Matthew Crawford’s Why We Drive as a lens through which to interpret ChatGPT. Although Crawford’s book is about driving, so many of the arguments could equally apply to writing.

Heya, Paddy!

Sven -- Your musings on Mary and Joseph caused chuckling and made Larryville a teensy bit happier.

To-date, the attorneys and the American Arbitration Association.
